I'll do Brighton next season, shame about the ramshackle ground but I imagine the pubs beforehand in the city centre would be a good laugh.
Title: Re: falmer Post by: Nijholts Nuts on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 16:00:05 Im ALL over Brighton next season, couldnt go despite living here last season as it was on the same weekend my baby was due. And youre right Shady, the pubs before hand WILL be awesome.

Title: Re: falmer Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 18:28:49 theyre pitch looks better than wembley. Not exactly difficult... Title: Re: falmer Post by: shady on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 18:29:58 :beers: I was in Brighton the other week and was very impressed. Here in Bournemouth it's all flashy bars with barely a traditional style pub in sight. The pubs your way seem to have a lot more character. Can picture how lively it'll be when we play the Seagulls and descend on a few establishments in great number.
Title: Re: falmer Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 19:39:22 I havnt been back to the Withdean since 2004 PO semi.
Brighton away first game would still be a cracker though. Title: Re: falmer Post by: Nijholts Nuts on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 20:06:06 Am I right in saying Seagulls supporters are generally a sound bunch?
Title: Re: falmer Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 20:08:03 Always been cunts to me.
Title: Re: falmer Post by: Fred Elliot on Sunday, June 6, 2010, 22:27:35 I know it is a bit diificult to assess Mex, but how the fuck are they going to even try and fill something like that ?

I reckon they should try selling tickets. It might just catch on. Title: Re: falmer Post by: Bogus Dave on Sunday, June 6, 2010, 23:02:39 Johnny's making a joke, Johnny's making a joke
Everybody look 'coz johnnys making a joke Title: Re: falmer Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Monday, June 7, 2010, 07:16:35 really cant see them filling it to be a problem, they have one of the biggest catchment areas in the country and i know lots and lots of people who wont go to the theatre of trees. BHA really is a team that represents more than just the city they come from, they represent sussex as a county.these include worthing, haywards heath, burgess hill, littlehampton, bognor regis, horsham, crawley, east grinstead, hastings, eastbourne, bexhill, lewes and newhaven. thats a hell of a lot of people
Heres an example for you, every single corporate box has already sold out for falmer, yet they dont sell out the very few they have at withdean Title: Re: falmer Post by: Ardiles on Monday, June 7, 2010, 07:55:44 This does look as if it's going to be a 'good' relocation - one that' going to give BHA a proper lift - as opposed to the cut price, poorly located 'bad' relocation that Oxford went for. KOT's comments about the club representing the county are interesting...it doesn't feel as if BHA does that at the moment, but I cans see how it will in future with the new ground as a focal point. Norwich is the other club that stands out for me in that way...represents the whole of Norfolk, not just the city.
What it shows, I think, is that when you relocate/redevelop, you get one chance to get it right - and that's it. Shaw Tip would have been a disaster for us - tucked away in a sleepy corner of town, miles from the decent bars, pubs and shops. Very glad we haven't followed Oxford's lead there. Brighton are building their ground out of town, but are ensuring they have proper transport links to get there. In our case, we're redeveloping right in the middle of town...even better. That's why I'm genuinely excited at the prospect of our 'new' ground. I think it will give the club an important lift, just like BHA seem to be getting. Title: Re: falmer Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, June 7, 2010, 08:01:35 It does look a nice relocation, it will give them a huge boost.
Title: Re: falmer Post by: Summerof69 on Monday, June 7, 2010, 08:47:43 Norwich is the other club that stands out for me in that way...represents the whole of Norfolk, not just the city. That's because Norwich are one big happy family !!! Good Lord! Although, if they plan on turning it into "Fortress American Express Community Stadium" that acronyms down nicely into faeces (or near enough). http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/brighton/8753418.stm Title: Re: falmer Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 13:27:18 It's a shame, although it's inevitable, that they ended up getting one of those god awful modern franchise sounding stadium names. I thought their owner might have kept it as Falmer, or stroked his ego and called it the Bloom stadium or some such rubbish.
Title: Re: falmer Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 13:27:30 european headquarters for amex are in brighton so it makes sense, reportadly 20 million over 5 years, tidy little sum.
Title: Re: falmer Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 13:30:41 Good Lord! Title: Re: falmer Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 13:33:25 european headquarters for amex are in brighton so it makes sense, reportadly 20 million over 5 years, tidy little sum. Fair play to them is what I say. If it brings in those sort of figures you really have to take it. Title: Re: falmer Post by: Colin Todd on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 13:52:41 £4m a year for sponsoring a league 1 clubs stadium seems fucking far fetched to me. Thats more than STFC's annual turnover!
Could be true theough if Amex wanted to help fund the club being successful rather than just get their name on a big sign. £4m a year to Amex is fuck all. Title: Re: falmer Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 13:55:35 european headquarters for amex are in brighton so it makes sense, reportadly 20 million over 5 years, tidy little sum. Are you sure? Obviously i know nothing about it, but that sounds far too high to me. Certainly higher than most stadiums that i remember in the higher leagues anyway. Bolton was £2m for 10 years for instance, although it was years ago. Title: Re: falmer Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 14:02:43 Arsenal got £100m from Emirates Airline for 15 years stadium sponsorship and 8 years shirt sponsorship, which works out at £4.4m a year (based on 23 years sponsorship across the two).
Find it hard to believe Brighton could get £4m a year for their stadium. Title: Re: falmer Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 14:09:16 Naming rights for the Ricoh arena were bought indefinitely for £10m.

Title: Re: falmer Post by: Saxondale on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 17:13:43 Could be true. Makes sense for Amex. There will be at least 20k going there every game and when they get into the premiership in three years time it'll be about 60k per game.
No really. Title: Re: falmer Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 17:20:18 Someone posted on the NSC forum that he'd been told it was £20m over 5 seasons. Then everyone started quoting it and the next thing you know it's a fact and not just the random most likely bollocks posting that it was in the first place.
