Anyway, bollocks to going to that shithole in Hereford.

I quite fancy a trip down to Poole though. I might take half a day, take the family and send them off for fish and chips while the match is on.

Any decent chippies in the vicinity, stfcinbmth?

Chez Fred is a very good chippy in Westbourne, where I live. Think they won chippy of the year a little while ago. Celebrated its 21st birthday a few weeks back and they did a deal of cod and chips for a £1 (proceeds to charity) all day long, as many as you wanted. Had three servings through the day  :I'm a complete mofleakin Deak

before we end up in Poole!  :beers:

Details of Tour announced:

http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2092364,00.html

As mentioned somewhere else it's KSC of 2. Bundesliga fame and Al-Sabb from the country boasting the worst international team on the very first FIFA game ever (Qatar).

It's a bit confusing as to who we're playing when though.

(Sorry if someone's already posted this)

KSC have us down as just promoted from League 1. They must not have been at Wembley.

http://www.ksc.de/aktuelles/anzeigen/news/ksc-vereinbart-trainingslager-testspiele.html

"Am Freitag, den 23.07. ist in Hallein der englische League 1-Aufsteiger Swindon Town Gegner des KSC.  Die Partie beginnt ebenfalls um 18.30 Uhr."

This is all absolutely surreal to me.

For anybody interested (not many I'm sure), their number 10, Massimilian Porcello is just coming back from 18 months out injured. He's scored a couple of pretty good free-kicks in the past. I would recommend a quick search for him on Youtube.

Al Sadd won't be a pushover either if some of their signings are anything to go by. Just signed the ex Lyon/Lille striker Abdul Keita for 8 million euro's alongside a Brazilian striker for the same fee. Also got the ex Brum striker Quincy Owusu-Abeyie and Pompey's full-back Nadir Belhadj.

YEs, I thought the OS got it wrong when I couldn't find "al Sabb".

I wasn't sure about going to the Forest game. It just doesn't excite me. But Now I've noticed it clashes with the Swindon Mela. So its definitely off the cards now.

Karlsruhe played their first game in Austria last night against polish team Arka Gdynia and lost 3-0. Their fans are going on as if it is the worst result in the history of the world and they are definitely going to be relegated this season (Despite just beating FC Metz in their previous game). I dread to think what they will be saying when Pericard gets a hattrick in a 5-0 win on Friday.

Someone's been sent off for us...

Finished 3-2 to us.

Who's been sent off then?

If a player has been sent off does that effect league games then if a friendly?

Title: Re: Pre-season fixtures 2010/11
Post by: Peter Venkman on Friday, July 23, 2010, 18:11:10
Good result even if it is a friendly.

If a player has been sent off then it depends on the refs report, if its for something violent then the red card will stand and he will be banned for the first game of the season.

Doesn't say anything on the Adver about anyone being sent off.

O/S doesn't say anything about a red card just said we went from a goal down to come back and win through Prutton and 2 goals from Charlie.

It does say full report to follow though

Nope no reports anywhere saying a sending off, but there are no full reports as yet, where did this rumour come from?

And he might well have mistakenly assumed from reeves4england's post (in response to Gelbfüßler's post, that we only had 10 men) when they were discussing how 2 players were subbed off for JP.

Possibly, although he seemed to say it as though it was new information from an external source rather than as a response to something on here. Therefore I absolve myself from blame :D

Strange to show a red card on that site with no name or time, whereas other matches have those details. Hopefully it's a cock up ... we'll know soon enough I guess.

Surely most refs ask for a substitution rather than send soneone off.

Nothing about a red card in the match report on the OS

Karlsruhe fans are using our OS as their source of information as to what's happening in this game

What have they made of the result?

There are highlights of the Al-Sadd friendly match on their official website.... you might want to turn the sound down though:

According to the Karlsruhe official site, Austin was sent off for elbowing Cuntz (second yellow)

What have they made of the result?

A mixed bag of embarrassment, "doom and gloom" and "friendlies don't matter". They seem most pissed off about the fact that they still haven't got a main sponsor.

Maybe thats because Cuntz was involved !!

I did notice that in the Adver they didn't even list down the teams, like they normally do.

Defensively very poor goal to let in against Al-Sadd, intersting as well that JPM appears to be playing wide left.

I tried running that paragraph through a translator and they could be saying Charlie SHOULD have gone for an elbow as he already had a yellow.

"Nochmals für Gesprächsstoff sorgte Doppeltorschütze Charlie Austin, der, schon mit gelb vorbelastet, Matthias Cuntz den Ellenbogen ins Gesicht stieß (81.) und folgerichtig mit gelb-rot vom Platz musste."

....is a bit of a bastard of a sentence, but I would translate it as follows:

"Again, double-goalscorer Charlie Austin provided a topic of conversation, when already booked, he hit Matthias Cuntz in the face with his elbow (81 min.) and consequently had to leave the field after a second yellow card."

Well I wanted to explain my random reply to a four month old thread.

It goes like this:
I'm on a particular thread and want to reply.  then I realise I'm not logged in, so I log in and get thrown then to a seemingly random other thread.
Then, not paying attention, I reply to anything that's in front of me.

Does everybody have this problem or is it just me - the random thread on log-in thing, not the not paying attention thing?
