Title: Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton play together after 28 years -FAO OST
Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 11:38:13
OST (and anyone else interested), you may already know this, but if not, then after Paul's Dad passed away last year and Bruce lost his wife, they started speaking again due the sad circumstances they had both been through, Bruce played on one song on Paul's new album and last week at one of Paul's gigs he had Bruce on stage to play on 3 songs.

Nice to see they are talking again and friends after all this time, life is too short

Apparently Rick Buckler feels betrayed by Foxton. Buckler and Foxton were touring together as 'From The Jam' for a while but Buckler left after Foxton recorded songs for Weller's new album. Apparently Buckler still doesn't get on with Weller because of the way Weller and his father treated him after the Jam split.

Theres another video i found on youtube of the first two songs

I'd heard that too NMH, it would be a shame if Buckler and Foxton fall out now, because Foxton has managed to finally build some bridges with Weller.

Good stuff BR. I had heard that Weller and Foxton and reconciled their differences after all these years and that Foxton had played on Wake Up The Nation. It's too bad (ooh, bit of a Jam pun there!) if Buckler has now got the hump with Foxton because as you rightly say, life is far too short for that sort of crap. I honestly never thought I would see Weller and Foxton on stage again performing Eton Rifles though (or anything else for that matter)

What do you (or anyone else for that matter) make of Wake Up The Nation? I really tried to get into it and I think I've probably given up on it, having not listened to it for at least a week now. I just found it hard work. I love the title track, it's as good as any Weller track that he's ever done. Apart from a couple of other 'ok' tracks though, it's decidedly 'meh'! Reading the sleeve notes, I would say that that Simon Dine bloke is having way too big a say in things and the sooner he fucks off the better...quote,"Simon had a clear idea about how the record should sound".....WTF??.?? SIMON had a clear idea?? This is Paul Weller talking? He's obviously mellowing out with age but bloody hell ???

Any way, cheers for that BR. I wonder if we will ever see The Jam back together? It's not looking quite so far fetched as it would have done only a few months ago :hmmm:

I would be mightly suprised if the Jam ever got back together.Like you say, more likely than a few months ago but i think Rick Buckler has got more issues with Weller than Foxton ever did (as NMH says above) and i couldn't see him ever agreeing to that. And it's got to be the 3 of them to do it or it's not worth it. I guess it will be the odd Foxton appearance on Weller's tours; would have been good to be there to see it though last week.

I've not listened to the new album much, finding it hard to get into it properly hence the lack of listens; i will try again soon and let you know my opinions. I agree about Simon Dine though, and i'm suprised Weller is letting it happen, we all mellow but hearing an interview he did on Danny Baker's show the other month he didn't sound like he'd mellowed much in that.

Too young to remember what differences the 2 would have had but The Jam were ace.
