Title: D-Day for Palace
Post by: Forza_Swindon on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 08:56:47
Just been sent a petition by a Palace-supporting mate, and thought I'd stick the link up here in case anyone fancies signing it...

I presume if Palace are kicked out that Sheff Wed would stay up and not us promoted - even tho when this happened once before Sunderland took our place and not the other way round

I would expect Wednesday to stay up, Gillingham to stay up and Grimsby to stay in the league.

Which means that if this happens the football authorities will almost certainly do something entirely different.

This is only the start of the liquidation process so not really D day.  If the takeover isn't complete they start going through the motions again like they did a few months ago, it would take a number of weeks/months to actually go out of existence, and a lot can happen in that time.

The deal is done for the club, it's the ground that is the problem.  The consortium will not do the deal on the club unless the ground deal goes through as well.  HBOS own the ground.

Even if we were to get the place in the championship, i'm not sure i'd want it.

We'd be nationally recognised as the club who couldn't get promotion on their own, and possibly pushed into the hated category along with the likes of Leeds at the moment. Charlton also finished ahead of us in the league, so surely they'd warrant it ahead of us?

The major problem for the new consortium who want to buy Palace, is that they cannot come to
an agreement with Bank of Scotland over the sale and ownership of Selhurst Park. They have a deal with the
owners of the club, but BOS seem to be proving very difficult to deal with.

This was a statement that the new consortium issued on the Palace website yesterday.

<pedantry>It's HBOS, not RBS</pedantry>

And they're hanging out for a sell-on clause on Selhurst Park. A sell-on clause on a fucking ground? They should shut the fuck up and get back to contemplating the pretty serious part they played in wrecking the nation's economy instead of trying to ruin yet another business

Lloyds Banking Group very much appreciates the importance of the Club to its loyal fans and the local community, but we don't give a flying fuck about any of that that. We remain committed to extracting as much money as possible from other people's misfortune however little we may deserve it, even if it means wrecking yet another decent business and destroying over 100 years of football tradition, for we are bankers and we are blood-sucking scum. We are currently in discussions with the Dark Lord Satan over how best to inflict further misery on the population at large and will be coming for your children shortly.

Amendment made for you Mr D!

Turning to the subject of the ownership/sale of Selhurst Park,it's always been a matter of dispute
and friction. The former owner Ron Noades held the ownership even when he moved on to Brentford
and unwittingly sold the ground to Simon Jordan, when Jordan set up a dummy company and then
tricked Noades into selling it to him,via the new company.
