Exactly. I don't think this season will have much bearing on whether we do it or not next season either.

I'm sure Andy King said the same thing after Brighton.

Losing one year doesnt mean you will be as good/better next season. Obviously today Millwall proved it is possible to re-group and come back and go one better.

Depends if we can keep hold of key players and improve on the existing squad.

I don't think we'll achieve anything next season without spending a few quid on a central defender and some midfielders.

I think we will strenghten, and spend a few quid, as now the board have had a taste of "what if" they'll want more. (hopefully)

the club cut the wage budget for the following season.

at least the current board will back wilson to make the improvements we need to challenge again next season.

Without wanting to jump the gun, for me there is no stand out team in the division next season. If we want auto promotion then it's ours for the taking if Fitton wants to pay for it.

I think Southampton will run away with it next season, but agree there's not much else to worry about. Sheff Weds will struggle and there's nothing from L2 to concern us.

Also - some more great journalism:

I'm sad for the players that have come out to support us and of course for the players.

Deffo going to be a weaker division next term, if we can play like we have this season and show similar composure and belief then with the right tinkering we should be up there again, wilson's too good at his job for us not to be.

Think Southampton will be the top dog next year.

Brighton are backing Poyet with a fair bit. Huddersfield will chuck money at it again. Sheffield Wednesdays wage budget will drawf alot of teams. Charlon, finances permitting. Notts County as a long shot, again finances permitting.

Southampton will run away with the league next season, Don't forget Peterborough are splashing big wages out on players again, Then there's Huddersfield who seem set to spend more than last season and of course Sheffield Wednesday so it will be a very very tough season.

To Be Fair everyone said the same about Leeds when they made the play-offs despite a 15 point deduction. The following season they finished outside of the top 2 & lost in the play-offs again.

Soton may well be top dogs next season, but it's far from certain.

No doubt we need a left winger and another central midfielder plus a two decent strikers, One to replace Paynter and the other for backup for the new guy and Austin as well as having Pericard, Don't bring Nouble back next season Wilson.

We need a good left back and a decent centre back to challenge Greer and Cuthbert.

Saints should walk it next year, they will splash the cash again this summer, Pardew brought very well last season.

Bar them there isnt too much we should be worried about.

Leeds never spent 3million plus on players.

Charlton have lost Shelvey, and Bailey may well disappear in the summer. Unless they replace those two they're perfectly beatable I reckon.

Next season is very dependent upon who remains at the club. I think we all expect Paynter to go. So will it be Pericard and Austin up front? Ferry has made the right noises about staying - but will it happen? Ward seems to be ready to go, having had a good time. Darby will be gone too.

So who will we get from Man City? John Guidetti to replace Paynter? Abdi Ibrahim in midfield? Nils Zander at LB? Dunno who these people are, but they are all listed on Man City Academy pages. But if they (or other colleagues) join Swindon, will they want to play here or will they just be looking to move on quickly?

This year we seemed to have a good team spirit. I thought we were pretty one dimensional, which has been shown in our results. When things haven't been working, we haven't been able to change this around too much. Will we be the same next season - who knows?

Not me. They might have a lot of fans, but they are up 'shit-creek' financially. That's the reason Charlton sold their best player PRIOR to the play-offs.

No, but starting the season on -15 points they still made the play-offs, and would have walked the division without the points deduction.

Soton (having spent £3m), would have finished just about level with us without their -10 point start.

Will they be one of the teams at the top next season, almost certainly, should we crown them champions before the fixtures are out, NO WAY JOSE (or Dave) :)
