Title: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: Red Away Kit on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 06:31:11 Well, after all the 'cross' banter the authorities gave you the Green Man ... A bit of a blow for us Millwall fans as drinking in a huge beer garden, under the sun, would have been lovely. However, it's going to piss down ... and the Green Man has no marquee to keep your little toes dry.
So, as a polite gesture among football fans ... bring your well worn anoraks, you'll need them in the beer garden. Oh, the pub holds about 200 max inside, better get there early. See you at Baker St, Finchley Rd, Wembley Park, Kingsbury or even Preston Road ... and after the game, Trafalgar Sq, win or lose. Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 20:07:17 And good in there? We gave it a miss and went in Thirsty Eddies. Was quite good in there and a great atmosphere.
If anyone on here was the courteous bloke at the bar who bought the round for me - cheers :beers: Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: fish head on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 20:22:49 Green Man was heaving and i gave up trying to get a pint but there was a lots of singing inside and out and tbh i was just pleased to see red and white in there and no sov wearing blue shirted chavs. :smugfu:
had to laugh when i saw a few young boys (8-10!) kick a fence down in the beer garden as it made a nice walkway to get past the crowd of lads trying to get outside! Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: juddie on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 20:30:22 green man was the highlight of my day. must have neen 800-1000 fans having a sing song. Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: One F In Fitton on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 22:27:10 A Leeds-supporting mate of mine - who actually goes to many games and is also a top-class fella - was in there with some Swindon lads that he knows (all ska boys - maybe some on here?) and said it was ace. Loads in there, good atmosphere, getting served ok etc. Sounded fucking lively in the background when I spoke to him on the phone.
We just went straight into Club Wembley (rah rah rahhhh....hellooooooooo dear-boy etc etc) & drank & scoffed in there. Slightly more expensive but nothing that's gonna put me out on the street, and this was a one-off. Well impressed, got served straight away, £4 a pint = not much more than the pubs, £4 for a hot-dog/chicken-balti-pie, salads on sale for the virgins/vegetarians/poofs, quite a noisy crowd in there, had a pleasant chat with Ed Hadwin (what a decent bloke) - yeh that was perfect pre-match. Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: juddie on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 23:22:42 were you wearing glasses OFIF?
Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: Batch on Sunday, May 30, 2010, 08:14:59 had a pleasant chat with Ed Hadwin (what a decent bloke) - Is he coming back, or is he staying on BBC Brizzle? Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: TownLoyal on Sunday, May 30, 2010, 08:31:56 Got served in about 5 minutes of getting to the Green Man. Only had 2 in there then got to Wembley and served straight away in CW. Like Scott said, probably best bit of the day.

Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: ronnie21 on Sunday, May 30, 2010, 09:17:53 We came out of the station and went in to the Ibis hotel bar. All Swindon in there, £4 a pint!! This guy comes in, and to be honest he looked like plain clothes law, started chatting saying he was a neutral from Preston! On his phone all the time, suddenly a gang of Millwall chavs come in, stand in the doorway and try to goad the town fans. Everybody just looked at them and laughed, they tried again and then finally left - with the "man of preston" in tow. He was obviously the spotter for them. What they didn't know was there was a bit of a balcony upstairs with two uniformed policemen on it watching their antics!

I was in the Ibis at about 12.30 (having a coffee), highlight was a taxi pulling up with two Wall fans and a blonde bird in a tight, short black mini. I would not have minded being sat next to her if my side scored, she would have got some hug and squeeze. Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Missed that one DB, must have been there at the same time as you as we were on the 11-28 from Bicester (not meant to stop at Wembley, but it was rammed with Town fans so they announced that we did not have to change at High Wycombe and the train would stop at the stadium - about the only result we got yesterday!)Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: chalkies_shorts on Sunday, May 30, 2010, 12:06:29 I was in there too from about 12 til 2. I saw the chavs, they were funny. I didn't see them doing any goading. In fact, i didn't see them do anything other than walk in, look completely out of place and walk out again - not even dirty looks or anything. The very few Millwall that were in there seemed OK. 3 lagers and 3 cokes = £21 ouch!!!

Sorry Juddie haven't been on here since Sat - yes I was (sunnies - must've looked a bit of a twat inside, but I had what felt like the beginning of a migraine - which didn't materialise thank god). I take it you were one of the folks that were with him then? Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought? Post by: One F In Fitton on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 19:37:53 Is he coming back, or is he staying on BBC Brizzle? Sorry Batch (see above post) - he said current deal runs til April & then what happens after that is up in the air. I asked if he has split loyalties when we meet either of the Bristols (ahem) & he made it very clear that he's on our side :) Title: Re: The Green Man ... a final thought?
