Title: Millwall allocation
Post by: otanswell on Saturday, May 22, 2010, 12:01:08
My millwall supporting mate just rang me to say that they will sell out by tomorrow... apparently they've just asked for another 10,000 tickets!

Surely there's none left to give soapy tit wank

What's with the fascination on how many tickets Millwall sell? Ultimately, we'll both (probably) sell out our allocations... Who cares who gets there first?

As mentioned yesterday, Scunthorpe took far less to Wembley than Millwall last year.

I think we'll probably end up selling a reasonably similar number of tickets each, which is the ideal scenario. Scunthorpe last year being vastly outnumbered was a bit of a shame, but they still won. York were hugely outnumbered by that other lot down the road, sadly they didn't.

apparently they've just asked for another 10,000 tickets!

Where do people think these extra ticket allocations are going to come from?

The standard Wembley allocation for the playoffs is about 37,000 for each team, with the remaining 16,000 being allocated elsewhere - sponsors, corporate, Club Wembley season ticket holders and so on. There just isn't any other tickets to allocate, so it ain't going to happen.

Before anyone starts bitching, only 50,000 tickets go to the clubs for the FA Cup Final - 40,000 go elsewhere.

I think it's a reasonable thing to be interested in tbf. Come to that, I wouldn't mind an update on how ours are selling..

Nick Watkins said on the wireless yesterday that if both clubs sell their allocation that more tickets may become available.

Not bad for one day to be fair (went on sale Friday, that was up first thing Sat Morning). They will take more than us, but t least it won't be a one sided affair.

Best attendance for a league 1 playoff final : 76,935 Man City v Gills. If Millwall sell 40,000 like last year we won't quit beat it but it'll be a good showing

To be fair they took 40,000 last season so can see them selling out. I think we will as well but will the demand be there for more tickets for us? Doubt it.

Can't see us doing too many more now. If we get past 30,000 that'll be good IMHO, given the what we took for the 'bigger' finals the last two times.

I don't think we will sell out our allocation fully, I think around 32-33k, we will get close but no cigar and if Millwall dont sell 40k for a game thats less than 10 miles from their home, especially when they are supposed to have a huge following then that wouldnt be very good.

I'm going to blame people like Sippo if we don't sell our allocation.

I just wonder how many part time Millwall fans went last year as it was their first visit to the new stadium, however they wont bother going this year.

There is certainly less interest from them this time. 5 of my mates are Millwall, only one of who is going this time. And two people i work with are ST holders there, and are on holiday. Save them blubbing on telly anyways.

28k sold as of last night for us to sell is not to be sniffed at in all honesty though.

Both clubs will have just over 30K I reckon (maybe a few more from Millwall but not many). That, as you say JJ, is not to be sniffed at.

I can't imagine with this weather many people would be staying in to book onlined or ring them tbh. I can see us selling another 5k

If Oxford took 33,000 or whatever it was surely we should take quite a bit more than that? Especially considering their's was a poxy Non-League Play-Off Final and this is a League One Play-Off Final?

But their tickets were pub league prices  too.

I don't think so. There's a certain number of fans every club is always going to take to Wembley whether it be Conference play off final, League 1 or Championship. A lot of clubs, like ourselves tend to take about 30-odd thousand. Some will take considerably less (i.e Scunthorpe, York) some will take more. I don't think the actual division makes that much difference.

Fair point but we sold our allocation in the last two Play-Off Finals didn't we?

Pretty sure We'll sell our's There are plenty who can only be described as very casual who will wait until the mad scramble has finished to purchase tickets.

My parents haven't got theirs yet and they're planning on going. I'm sure there are plenty more out there thinking "there's no rush"

I think that will be a fair few peoples attitudes too.
