OK, are you sitting confortably?

Haha, OK its not a long story, but a long long time ago (about5 months) I got tickets to see some bands in bournemouth on Friday 28th May. No problems so far, A while after i realised theres a tattoo convention on the 29th in Bournemouth, So as my mate lives there me and few other decided to make a weekend of it..
The the play off dates were announce and my though was simply "FUCK" Its only when we beat charlton the feeling sunk in i may not be able to go to wembley because i cant let my mates down as im driving. So i went on a mission to devise a plan.
Friday is as scheduled, go to the gig watch bands have fun, I am no sacking off the Tattoo convention(which there will be many more of) and have booked a return coach from bournemouth to wembley (only 16quid) So i am not going to wembley and then get the coach back and join back up with my mates and have copious amount of booze to celebrate :-p.....and drive everyone back on sunday......disaster averted.

Bit of advice Chubbs - I noticed on another thread you were thinking of getting a coach from Victoria after the game. It can take a LONG time to get on the tube if you get caught in the queues after the game, so be mindful of that.

Correct. Although it'd be quicker to switch to the Metropolitan Line at Baker Street or Finchley Road, since it gets to Wembley more quickly than the Jubilee Line

Whilst on the subject of tube travel, any advice for avoiding the inevitable congestion at Baker Street?

Isn't jubilee line the ones that are striking that day.

I don't think so. There's a suggestion that engineering train drivers might be going on strike but that's all I've heard

It's difficult but if you really want to avoid it...

a) use National Rail from Marylebone
b) take the bus (number 18 goes to Wembley from somewhere near Paddington I think)
c) walk - it's only about 6 miles :)

Chubbs, getting the National Express up from B-mouth to Victoria 2 hours before you, the extra drinking time did it for me, but maybe i'll see you on the way back. I'll be smuggling a few beers on board, win or lose!

i would have got an earlier train but im out on the lash the night before, so though 9.25 was sufficient. :-)
wats the deal with coaches?
ive booked the 7.30pm back just to allow for ET and PEN but if the game finished without these whats the chances of the letting me on an earlier coach back?

I often travel with National Express on Saturday evenings from London-B'mouth and they're usually packed, so it's unlikely there'll be space for you to hop on to an earlier one. If your return is a 'Funfare' ticket (cheap ones booked on-line) the driver will definitely only allow you to board the 1930.

I've booked the 2030 back to allow a bit of breathing space / drinking time if we hoist the trophy but you'll have plenty of time too as it is. Just hope we're not moping miserably around Victoria Coach Station. I'm feeling confident we won't  :D
