Title: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: jimbob on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 17:11:10 Internet and Call centre for return tickets on a groupsaver for 4 from Swindon to anywhere in London, (including wembley obviously) were £43....just went to swindon station as I heard they were doing em for £16 and sure enough they are....robbing bastards! just make sure you say you ask for tickets via didcot......
those that have already bought their tickets, you should be able to get a refund as long as its a flexible jobby..... that is all love from your money saving expert ;D Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: Phil_S on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 17:55:39 Do you know if the same sort of deal is available from Chippenham ? Whats it called ?
Cheers Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: Dirk Diggler on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 17:57:46 Fuck! Paid £34.12 each for 8 tickets last night (not including tube)
Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: jimbob on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 18:05:12 its simply a groupsaver for 4 people....although I had to tell her that I wanted to go via didcot rather than her telling me....should only be another couple of quid from nam
on the subject, just looked at getting my 8 tickets I bought earlier going from hungerford (not knowing that swindon was only 16 quid rather than 43) that cost 92quid for 8 @ 11.50 each and they want a tenner admin fee to refund them so..... know any hungerford based town fans who might wanna take these off me hands to save me a tenner?? Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: westcountry on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 19:17:23 You can get them on the day. Just ask for Group Saver, they will give you tickets from swindon to didcot, and didcot to swindon and a London Day Railcard from didcot to all London Zones. on the day will be £21.40 for 4 adults. Every junior after that is £1.
4 adults 4 juniors will be £8 something.. Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: betty_swollox on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 19:21:24 Well this a common thing for London away days and what you're saying is spot on. When my mate went to the station to get ours today (for £16 something) though they told him tht they are stopping the groupsaver. Not sure if that meant for Saturday 29th or just stopping them in general (I doubt), so my advice is get them in quick at the station.
All this 'it's cheaper to get a single' and 'buy your tickets to Didcot and then Didcot to London' etc....Our countries ticketing pricing system need sorting out, it's a joke....all the Tories fault! What time are people planning on getting the train in the morning? Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 19:22:33 It's all well and good buying train tickets on the day, but if it's rammed then
a) You'll be queuing for hours to buy a ticket and b) There'll most likely be priority for those who've paid for a set time/train Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 19:40:39 I expected it. To be fair the trains will be rammo anyway.
They cancelled them for the Gillingham game that was on the last game of the season in 2008, because there were too many fans going to be in London that day. I think the police have something to do with it. Few of us got National Express to London that day for Gills (it was shit). Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... Post by: Summerof69 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 20:33:05 Group savers can travel at anytime. Normally, yes, but it looks like there are exceptions. That document is from the National Rail site and it says groupsave is NOT available between Swindon and Paddington on 29th up to 13.30, like there is between South Wales and Paddington on Saturday for the Championship play-off. I used to organise rail travel for work, and I know of instances that people didn't have the right ticket, and they would fine them on the spot. I don't agree with it as they totally rip-off the people who go on the peak service between Swindon and London. Title: Re: NOW HEAR THIS NOW HEAR THIS - IMPORTANT TRAIN INFO..... leave car at hungerford and just stay on train back from paddington to swindon rather than getting off at reading and just pick up car next day. alternatively, got quoted cab fare of £20-£25 from v cars. Went to Chippenham Station. 4 x tkts as a group saver £89.50 buy any time Goes online Group saver tickets on all sites show as £179.00 They ain't taking the discount off. Group saver chippenham to Didcot Didcot to Padd & return adds upto £88.80 So if I went to Chippenham sation does that mean I can get 4 returns for £44.40. The mounted police controlled the flow of fans to Wembley Park and you will find you may stand around for a few minutes every few hundred yards.
