Charlton are certainly getting very arrogant and cocky about the 2nd leg, First this from Charlton's chairman:-

"Everyone knows it's a hugely important game for the club," said chairman Richard Murray. "Although Swindon have a slight advantage after the first leg, we are back on home soil on Monday and I believe that will make all the difference."

I've seen plenty of other Charlton fans' posting on various sites saying we should fear playing at The Valley as they have only lost their 3 times this season and we should fear their 25,000 crowd, Yeah you mean like we did at Leeds' & Southampton?

I must admit it is annoying. They're hardly an intimidating crowd like Millwall or Leeds though so we have nothing to fear especially with 3,000 of our own behind the lads.

I've just posted this on the Official 1st leg thread...

From The Football League Paper :

THE BEAR PIT AWAITS

The biggest surprise of this game came not in the 90 minutes but upon the arrival of the teamsheets without Billy Paynter. Think Ronaldo on the eve of the 1998 World Cup Final, only less dramatic and in suburban Wiltshire.

It was, said Charlton boss Phil Parkinson, 'a big boost', yet the main beneficiaries were not the Addicks but Paynter's stand-ins.

Pushed up top from his usual berth on the left wing, Bolton reject Danny Ward turned in a sparkling performance. Yes, he mised a sitter, but he made the first and then drilled home a fine second, as well as creating numerous chances.

And on the left, Aan O'Brien absolutely terrorised Frazer Richardson, who was named in the League One team of the year.

If anything, the absence of Paynter galvanised Swindon, whose players seemed intent on proving they are more than a one-man team.

That said, they will surely rue not taking their chances. Charlton showed admirable spirit to claw their way back and, having clung on, you can bet they won't play this badly again.

Playing with cut and dash in your own backyard is one thing. Defending a slender lead in a bear pit like the Valley is quite another.

Charlton haVe lost just three times at home this season and outplayed Norwich and Leeds there in the final month of the season. It would take a brave man to bet against them coming back.

Only a few points :

Danny Ward a reject ?
The Valley... a Bear Pit ?
Charlton 0 Norwich 1...

Did you really need to post it in two different threads?

Did he actually call us "tin pot" ? Or did he call us a small
club? Which we are.

The Valley was the least vocal big crowd this season, actually fuck that norwich were quieter, at least all the kids at charlton try and sing. But thats all it is one big family stand.

Nothing intimidating about the place at all. Bear pit? Horse shit more like.

I'm here all week <ROLF>

Charlton are in deep shit financially of course, if they don't go up that might mean that the better players in the current team won't be at Charlton next season.  There has to be more pressure on them than us.  I don't think that will escape the thoughts of Mr. Wilson.

Who cares?

Let's beat them first then get on our high horse about how much shit they talk.

Regardless, its going to be a tough game.

Did he actually call us "tin pot" ?

Errr...no...that was just a comment from a random Charlton fan...on a forum...somewhere ::)

It just seems to be the general view of some/quite a lot of their fans.

Of course it is. Visits to Swindon scare the shit out of Charlton fans who were, until recently, used to Old Trafford awaydays etc. Most fans of "massive clubs who are exiled" tend to be a tad eabove their station.

It's done us no harm this year and I hope we can go up as unknowns like Scunthorpe did... Twice.

^^ Spot on.

Holloway told the Blackpool players before the game at the City Ground that 90% of everyone watching the games think Forest had already won....

I think we should all take cute fluffy teddy bears and throw them around during the game.

Bear pit my arse!

When we go down to the valley today your sure of a big suprise,
Todays the day that pericard scores,
then back to the pub thats got all the whores,
Todays the day that Charlton have their Wembley place nicked

In the words of the great George W. Bush, a lot of people misunderestimate us.
