Title: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: Batch on Saturday, May 15, 2010, 20:33:09 Right, the Charlton game, finally decided to drive somewhere like a tube station and dump the car there and tube it in. That way I'm not risking missing extra time or pens.
For reasons I won't bore people with going to be driving from Basingstoke, so travelling via M3 or M4. Probably leaving 1:30-2pm ish Anyone got any ideas as to where might be a good place to park up, preferably free/cheap car park or street parking without those damn residents parking restrictions? ta. Just looking, and it might be possible to do overland from Basingstoke itself, assuming the walk from waterloo east to waterloo can be done in 20 minutes! Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, May 15, 2010, 21:06:03 i can't find much else but there's a car park near uxbridge station operated by apcoa

I walk this most mornings/evenings., and it can be completed in approx 3 mins. Waterloo & Waterloo East are pretty much different arms of the same station (with one station serving SW London and all points SW and the other serving SE London and Kent) connected by an overhead walkway. Connection times are minimal. Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: Batch on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 07:37:26 cheers ardiles
Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: crystall Tips on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 10:14:53 Or Hatton Cross! That's where we parked when we went to Millwall and will be doing that again tomorrow. Osterley is couple of stops further in, so either is probably ok.
Hatton Cross parking was £4 all day for Saturday, not sure how much tomorrow though. Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: justboiledover on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 20:13:00 Was resisting the urge to go to this one - Can't go without my little-un, on a school night would get ridiculously late for her, need to call in favours to get out of work early etc However when a mate of my wife's texted to say that her husband had managed to get too many tickets and would I be interested in a pair I sort of said yes (very quickly).
I have no idea how to get there, will probably drive part-way and then tube/train it. Would be grateful if anybody knows of a station that other town fans are using as I don't really want to be wandering around in the middle of the night with just my daughter in some dodgey shit hole. If I'd got my arse in gear I'd have gone SOS like I did to Millwall although I probably wouldn't have been able to get out of work early enough. Any advise gratefully recieved. Hatton Cross parking was £4 all day for Saturday, not sure how much tomorrow though. Osterley parking is free if you stop on the Great West Road (A4) either side of the station. If there isn't any before or after just turn around at the next set of lights and head back towards Hounslow and park on the other side of the road. Always loads of room and never had any problems with idiots/residents etc. Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: Mudfish on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 20:51:57 Lots of parking around ground, sure there are many streets around ground that are unrestricted, failing that a big car park on Victoria Way costs £5 and has masses of spaces
Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: rich on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 21:50:55 I've been told parking around the ground is easy enough, plenty of car parks for about a fiver, much cheaper than 5 people paying tube etc. Going to leave the don around half 3 and hope for the best.
As for the route, im guessing around the m25 (anti clockwise) is going to be much quicker than through london which the satnav is going to try and make me do? Cheers Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 21:54:58 Last time I went I parked here (the car park to the left of the marker). Cost a fiver I think. Bit of a pain to get out after the game though it must be said.

Anyone know the best way, because last time i was intelligent enough to drive through central London... I plan on bombing at right round to the A2. Is this best? Because i don't fancy the south circular much, unless of course that is the best and afterall it can't be worse than missing an entire game due to going central. :) Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: Rodney on Monday, May 17, 2010, 09:13:22 Take the M4 straight into London, park in Hammersmith and get the tube. Most parts of Hammersmith don't have parking restrictions after 5pm so its easy. The alternative is Chiswick but its further out on the tube. A piece of piss home at 11pm - just under an hour.
Getting to South London in rush hour is not pleasant, but if you're setting off early and time isn't a problem - then just park in Charlton or Greenwich. Title: Re: FAO Londoners, or those with 'the knowledge' (tube/parking)... Post by: vizzo on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 14:05:23 You can try to get official wembey parking right next to the stadium- may still be some available. Alternatively there are lots of local other car parks near the ground - best to book and pay in advance rather than chancing it on the day.
