As we live out in Kent tomorrow is going to be my kids first home game. Danny has been to about 100 away games but never home game and he cant wait. Come on the town.

and what a first home game it is

How come he's never been to the CG?  you must have traveeled further than that to some of the 100 away games!

You know i have no idea why. I think its just the love for away games. Plus he is a bit autistic and the other is manic. At away games there is more room for them to run about.

What is the concensus for the minimum age to take kids to footy??

my lad first went when he was 3.went to poxford,city, reading etc away aged 4-5

I took Spacey Jnr and Princess Spacey to their first game the other week. He's 4 and she's 2.

I know that some people think that football is no place for women and children so I took the missus aswell and we all painted our faces and sang a song that went soccer ra ra ra soccer ra ra ra!

I hope Danny enjoys the County Ground atmosphere. Lets hope he goes home happy.

Kieran did ok. But fair play to the stewards they let him run about at Southend and colchester so he was ok. Tomorrow might be different

I don't intend taking my little 'un until he is probably 5 or 6 and can sit down 45 mins a time, there is nothing worse than people bringing the kids when all the kids want to do is kick the back of chairs and try and play up as they are not interested in the game.

don't leave it too late that they turn into gloryhunters though!  get them along as soon as they can sit straight for a bit, let them ask dumb questions about the game and feed them lots of chocolate

I think I was about 5. I can't say I totally knew what was going on but I was always keen to go back, and I don't think I ever got bored or annoyed people!

My dad didn't even like football, and I was pestering him to go by the age of 5.

We took our son to his first game at 3 years old, it was home game against Grimsby.

His first comment when we got in to the ground was "They've got two goals".

And after the game kicked off he kept asking, "Which one's Alan Shearer" :D


And to be fair he did get a bit bored towards the end of each half.
It probably helped that we won 2-0, and now at the age of 14 he still supports the Town :D

Started both of mine at home games when they were 6. You want to know that their bladders are going to last 45 minutes in the cold.

8th October 2005. My first match, along with my youngest boy (10) and daughter ( 8 ) at the time. The first L & P event, loads of balloons and stuff. They loved it. They managed about 1.5 more matches and haven't been back since.

My dad first took me when I was about 7 and my brother 5 - 27 years later we're still hooked.  My oldest who's 6 and a half has been around 5 times this season.  He's usually had enough about 15 minutes from the end, which isn't bad going.  He also decided on his second outing that Charlie Austin is his favourite player, so when I get home after every game now, I have a succession of questions about what Charlie did etc.  Got him a season ticket for next season, as under 10s go free, so even if he only wants to go to half of the games, there's no money lost!  Wouldn't entertain taking my youngest who's nearly 3, he'd spend the game kicking the seat in front or throwing things!

I went to my first town game aged 26. Parents weren't interested in football. I was but never went as a kid, didn't know anyone who did.

Sounds like me. Parents, brother, girlfriend all hated football and I didn't attend my first game until I was 20. I used to go with a chap called Paul who has since passed away. RIP Paul and thanks for introducing me to STFC.
