Title: Green councillor killed in fall from tree:
Post by: ghanimah on Thursday, May 13, 2010, 08:39:40
Oh the irony

Quote
A councillor for the Green Party has died after falling out of a tree, it has been disclosed.

Phil Gordon, a professional tree surgeon, was working in Abbey Park, Leicester, on Tuesday when the accident happened. He was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary where he died.

"Councillor Gordon was one of our first Green councillors, and along with his then co-councillor Matt Follett brought a fresh approach into the council chamber, championing the cause of recycling both in the city and in the council.

"He was an arborist, and had been working alongside our trees and woodlands team for just over a year. He will be greatly missed by them."

Too right. Here in Park Ward in Reading we've just elected a Green Party councillor with a 600 majority.
He's worked his arse off for the community for years and thoroughly deserved it.
