Title: Wiltshire Premier Shield Final
Post by: Jean-Francois is God on Monday, April 26, 2010, 10:13:53
You can forget about the race for automatic promotion.....you can forget about the playoffs.....tomorrow is the all important Wiltshire Premier Shield Final.

This is what we have been working for all season, we face our bitter local rivals Swindon Supermarine in the showpiece final of the season at Hunts Copse and I for one will be going along to see our boys lift that prestigious trophy infront of the travelling army of STFC supporters.

We have not had our name on the trophy since 1991/1992 season and that is far too long enough.

.............basically is anyone going along to this game?

Just wondering what crowd could be expected for this?  Anyone know what gates 'The mariners' get at home and what their average away following is?.  Always look out for their results and would happily see them replace Pox in the not too distant future.  At one piont a few years back with teh way swindon was being run I thought there'd only we one team in Swindon left to support!

Surprised this game wasn't switched to The CG, would've been a sellout!

I'd would've driven up for it.

Is it all ticket!?

Yes. Season ticket holders first, then on sale to those on the STFC database.

Apparently the police decided this due to the possibility of trouble between the two sets of fans.

They've also come up with two different routes to the ground, one for home support and one for us, to minimise the threat of trouble around the ground.

And extra police from Hampshire and Somerset have been drafted in, even though all leave has been cancelled for the local lot.

The T.A is also on standby.

What teams take part in this predigious tournament?

It used to be a load of teams from all over wiltshire, but STFC stopped taking it seriously and it was changed to only 4 teams - STFC, Chippenham, Sailsbury and Supermarine.

We must qualify for Europe for winning this.

We should apply to take Pompey's place in the UEFA Europa League Cup.

Surely winning this must take precedent over 4th place and qualify us for Champions League

Looking forward to seeing what the tabloid newspapers have to say about this - surely the adver will have a special supplement about our winning run to the final ?

Little over 2 and a half hours until kick off and still no mention on the OS. I would have though this was the ideal opportunity to raise the clubs profile...

Good Luck to Byrne and his boys!

How so? West Ham have him on a 5 year contract! If Paynter and Austin are fit, he won't play much.

If one of them is injured/suspended would be the trouble implied.

correctamundo, i fear Austin and Paynter both getting injured and we would then be relying on Nouble and the Hamstring. Eek.com

Let me get this right then. On the pitch we have more experienced players like Kevin Amankwaah,  Mark Marshall, Craig Easton Michael Timlin, even  Lloyd Macklin yet it is Nouble who has literally 10 league games to his name that people decide to jump on the back of.

Good work
