Isn't he the romanian player we are signing this summer Byrne was on about on the radio before sat's game? He will be a first yr pro or something and will be pushing for the first team too. Is currently a under 17 international too. He also mentioned a couple more players joining the youth squad this summer too.

It's been removed - said he was a triallist on the left wing.

They mentioned a couple a few months back, a Romanian and a Hungarian if i remember, not sure if it's the same ones though. Did anyone else hear it?

Do players need a work permit or something just to play for free in a reserves game?

Or couldn't he get in to the country?

Its almost as though some families move countries sometimes, and then have children, yet keep the name.  Can you imagine?  Its disgraceful.

Or da Silva, that well known Croatian name. Except that Eddy isn't even slightly Croatian, half the national teams in Europe seem to have a Brazillian now. It's a shame we can't get one really.

Not sure Jonny if it was work permit or maybe clearance from his club

Now you come to mention it, not getting clearance from his club sounds more likely than being turned away at customs.

This is the reason why I hate Portugal and Deco.  Brazilian f*ck-face.

Do you also hate Spain for Senna, Turkey for "Mehmet" Aurelio, Croatia for Eduardo da Silva and Portugal again for Liedson, or is it just Deco?

The day England field someone who has no English in him, such as N'Zogbia and fucking Almunia is the day I give up on the national side once and for all

Couldn't give a shit who it is, he's italian, we're England...why should he play for us? The antional side should be so much more about pride and identity and fandom than finding the 11 best players who we might be able to make eligible

not particularly no. I just don't understand why it's so openly acceptable in cricket?

rules of residency/repatriotisation would probably be the main reason cricket allows it

I bet that they don't have anyone in cricket called Baky the Mouse Man

Or any of this list

Title: Re: Konate Bakari
Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, April 24, 2010, 11:17:28
That list is not really the same though is it?

There's big difference between Englishman being born abroad of English parents or moving here as a child and gaining full citizenship than those who move here as a (for example) 26 year old professional Brazilian footballer who cannot get into the Brazil national squad.

Examples like Owen Hargreaves are acceptable as players who moved here as a youngster are too. However, players who move here to play pro football, have been in the country 5 years and cannot get into their respective national team LIKE DECO, LIKE SENNA et al is not really on and we should stick to our morals on that one.
