Personally I think Paul Ince is destined to be a lower league manager and not be able to get any success higher up.

I am inclined to agree, much the same as I think Roy Keane is similar.

Keane, great player, shit manager. I believe his success at Sunderland to start with was just because "it was Roy Keane" much like when Dennis Wise was here becuase it was "Dennis Wise"  and the same really at Macclesfield with Paul Ince, lets be honest. ok we got promoted with Wise but the squad that season was pretty shit, Brownlie, Shakes, Brown, Onibuje, Comyn-Platt etc. Only players I would want from that side now really would be Monkhouse, Jutkiewicz and a confident Jerel Ifil. Those managers commanded respect because of who they are. Where as a decent manager like Gary Johnson, Danny Wilson etc is because they have brought in decent players and got the team to gel.

I'm surprised by his failure this season as proir to going to blackburn his record was pretty fucking good.

I think he's a good manager, albeit not ready for top level yet.  Lets not forget wilson has failed at 2 or aguably 3 clubs.  Sometimes it just dosnt happen for whatever reason.

I'm not sure he has failed. They'll get a top 10 finish.

Didn't they sell their best player? (Puncheon) and rumours are of a dramatic cut in spending being introduced in order to try and halt the amount of debt that is spiralling.

Hence my comment about being a decent lower league manager. Ince has done well in L1, and L2 to various degrees but couldnt cut if further up, much like Wilson hasn't cut it further up the leagues but has done well in the bottom 2.

I think Keane will come good in the end.
I think the job he has at Ipswich is bigger than he initially expected.
My cousin is an Ipswich fan, I was chatting to him a couple of weeks ago.
He said that all of the players had such a shit attitude, just playing for money, no love for the game.
That was the main reason that Shane Supple decided to quit the game because he apparently "fell out of love with the game". This was due to the players he was surrounded by. Not giving a shit about the club, only playing for themselves and not having any team ethic.
Next season will be the telling season for them I think, once he's had a chance to have a clear out in the summer.

Obviously their season hasnt been a disaster but I'm sure that the play offs were the minimum target for this season given their position for the last 2 seasons.

Not really. Wilson got promoted to the prem with barnsley, got sacked in this league with MK, failed to get city up and got sacked by them in this league.

No we didn't!  Sturrock took us up.  Wise's 17 games at the start of the season were just a helpful start.

I'm normally the first to cheer when the Franchise suffer...but let's remember we need them to take some points off Leeds.  Now they are out of the picture, I'd welcome a strong finish from them.

Alot of it was Wise's squad though, Sturrock got us over the finish line, After our start thought anything other than promotion would have been a complete failure. It was however the catalyst to do well in the league the following season until the BEST, transfer embargo saga....

To be fair to Ince he did a hell of a joc at Macc. They were virtually down to the Conference when he took oer and kept them up.

He then went to Franchise, where Wankleman gave him quite a bit of cash, and got them up from League 2 to the play-offs of League 1.

Then he went to Blackburn, to be sacked soon after, and he went back to Franchise, where Wankleman has reduced the budget, but he still wanted promotion to the Championship, especially after seeing what Wilson has done here.

Personally, the sooner Franchise and Wankleman goes bust...the better.

I wonder how long it will be before we hear Paul Ince saying that black managers and coaches don't get opportunities in the game but here he has the opportunity to prove that he's a good coach, do his time and bring success on a low budget and he buggers off saying 'my budget's been cut and I quit'. When you compare to Keith Alexander who was prepared to do the rounds in lower league football developing players fufil their potential and great managers such as Alex Ferguson or Roy Hodgson who did their time in lower level football to get where they are now.

There was a peice in one of the sunday papers where Ince was saying his budget had been cut and he was forced to sell Puncheon to Southampton and not bring in any players, and he had to name only 3 subs in 1 or 2 games and even named his No 2 on the bench for a game.

Sounds like Wanyman had a plan and it has failed and he is not prepared to put any more money in, hopefully that will see them relegated next season with AFC promoted thus meeting the following season

Can't see Ince getting a new management job now.

Well, he'll either be gone by Christmas or prove to be an inspired appointment. I would be surprised if Gorman or Alex Rae replace him if it didn't work.

However, when you consider that they had appointed lower league experience in Danny Wilson and Martin Allen along with "glamour" names like Paul Ince and Roberto Di Matteo in the past you have to say it'll be a struggle for Winkleman to place positive spin to their "fans" with this announcement.
