Title: Fancy boots
Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, 14:34:18
This is a little pet hate of mine.

20 years ago everyone used to wear black boots. Then Predators came out and all the elite players used these. Now, even Oxford players are wearing boots of any colours of the rainbow.

I think they should make all footballers wear black boots apart from players that have won awards and they should be allowed to wear a colour of their choice for 1 match following their victory.

Its stupid that donkeys like Baz Savage wear bright green boots when they are utter gash!

So if you were a footballer you would therefore take your aggression out on the pitch with sublime performances!

Players started wearing fancy boots back in the 50's...you've only got to look at the sexy Stanley Matthews boots advertised in 50's Town progs...colour came in the 60's with George Best and Alan Ball...simple marketing..nowt wrong with it.

I'm pretty sure Frank Nouble had a pair of pink boots on in the Tranmere game.

Players should be forced to wear black boots and have floppy hair & moustaches like Don Rogers.

Players don't have moustaches any more, I can't think of one in fact.

Would you wear bright yellow boots with red socks and a white skirt? I doubt it.

Bob O, I also hate all the coloured boots worn by footballers today.

More pressure on parents to buy little Tommy the best, along with three different kits per season.

Alan Ball and Alan Hinton both had bright white boots, if I remember rightly.

George Best and Alan Ball were class acts. Most of the lower league players these days aren't fit to lace their boots.

Then yes I would wear yellow shoes - but to be honest me wearing a yellow top and shoes - a white skirt and red socks - is extremely unlikely!!!!!

Trying to lace a pair of George Best boots, taxed the dexterity of many young lad in the 60's.

Today's youngsters are much more adroit at this sort of thing...

Here you go....side lacing  :surrender:

Should be black boots only I reckon...

Adidas World Cup 82's, or at a stretch Puma Kings if your feet are too wide for the Adidas boots....

All other boots should be banned :)

When I was about 13, I played for a boy's Sunday League team and I pestered and pestered my parents for a pair of Red Puma Kings. My Mum finally caved to my Dad's dismay and I had to (rightly) put up shouts 'OOOOIIIII Dorothy' from the touch line off my old man for a whole season. It finally got all too much and I broke down in tears in the final game because my old man's chants got too much. Needles, Ive gone with a conservative black pair ever since.

Throughout my footballing times I've worn red, blue, silver and gold boots.  I also had long hair and a headband.  I looked like a prat.

Best player on the pitch every single week though.

yeah good move Fergie

another thing that i find a bit stupid is players who wear white ankle socks over their kit socks.  :hmmm:

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm212/donkey077/david-beckham-100-cap-boots.gif

do they just wanna look extra flashy ?
noticed a few of our players do the same.

the ankle socks help keep the shin pad in place without the need for "string" and velcro things. but yes they do look flashy at the same time.
