Grimsby fan in Peace!

Just thought you might be interested in how Lee's doing with us. Made a big impact to say the least, scored 2 against Lincoln the other week and has now been made captain! The guys passion and enthusiasm is a breath of fresh air. It's easy to see how no Swindon fan had a bad word to say about him despite falling down the pecking order at your place.

Here are a few more views of him from our fans, heading for cult hero status already it would seem? (that's not too difficult given the shite we've been dealt up the last few years though!!)

Sounds awfully familiar to when he first came here, when we were also in the shit league-wise. Not a dig but he's a Conference player now.

Would never fault his commitment but frankly the least talented player we've had for some time. I always hated him a little bit cos of his City days anyway though tbh.

No disrespect to Lee, but League Two is his level. I think he was one of the players to make a difference in our season in that division.

Last night, I did wonder how he was getting on. You must have been chuffed with the result yesterday. Stelling was going mental on SS, like you'd won the lottery or similar.

I always liked Lee Peacock even tho' he used to be a slave trader. As you say hes mnain attributes are his enthusiam & willing ness to die for the cause. I wish him the very best

It felt like winning the lottery it's been that long! I agree that league Two probably is his level now. He's lacking that yard of pace he probably had in his 20's. But it's obvious he's been a good player in his day; his positional sense is great and his placed header to set up our third was perfect. He looks like a natural leader as well and slated the rest of the team in the local paper midweek after the disappointing performance at Dagenham and they seemed to respond to that yesterday. I'm not doubting that he's not upto league 1 standard anymore and you've got better but he's doing a damn good job for us and I hope he keeps it up for the rest of the season and maybe we'll bridge the gap and stay up by the skin of our teeth.

Oh yeah Tony Thorpe and Gareth '3 year contract' Whalley

Tony Thorpe played for us briefly a few years ago. He was very poor.

In that case we should loan you our young Polish U-21 keeper Jakub Jesionkowski. Supposed to be highly rated but I will admit to not seeing him play or knowing much about him.

Timlin is a bit shit, but good in league two. It's hard to forget things like that when we're talking up promotion from the league above and having better players etc. In fact, it makes me appreciate how much we've come on under Wilson.

Glad to hear he's doing well for you, he was a great servant to us and well-liked by fans. Ask him about the DellBoy coat!

And following on from DMR's assessment (which is, as Dave says, rubbish), I suspect we'll find out whether he's a Conference player next August, cos you lot look screwed

Andrew Fitton was on the radio yesterday saying that they have tried to get a few of the squad players out on loan but a couple of them would rather stay in the stiffs. He cited the example of Macklin has had 4 games for Torquay and that the other players are stupid not to go out on loan and get some games in and come back the better for it.

It's great that he's settled in up there and is becoming a fan's favourite already,a real gent and a player who wears his heart on his sleeve.

GTFC fan, you hadnt found anyone with a bad word to say about Lee Peacock, apart from DMR!

Peacock's wife is very Wiltshire based, so fair play to him to have the commitment and the passion to play first team football wherever he had to go. Very pretty lady she is too.

The bloke will have a positive affect on the dressing room, which is something you look to be crying out for after 2 or 3 years scraping at the very bottom?

For passion and enthusiasm, there is no one better than Peacock. I knew you guys would love him.

You've just brought back a bad memory for me! Possibly the single worst player we have ever signed. The guys what, 6'4" yet can't win a header, doesn't jump, got the pace of a 1940's tractor and a turning circle of a lada. He somehow managed to be club captain for the best part of 2 years yet hardly played a game, an untried 17 year old was even preferred to him in central defence earlier this season. He was truly awful. Was he that bad when he was at Swindon? or has he just got a lot, lot worse with age?

Was lucky enough to meet him on a few occasions and the guy is a true gent one of the few that always has time to talk to supporters

Heywood came in at a time when our defense wa shocking and played a major role in us narrowly avoiding relegation.  I always liked him.

There was talk about Everton being interested in Heywood when he was here, but his career went downhill fast as soon as he left us to join City...a bit like Grant Smith.

Regarding Peacock...top bloke, and always like having a chat to the fans after the match.

heywood did a damn site more for stfc than peacock did.

We signed Hoofwood, at a time when anything crossed into our box seemed to be headed in by the opposition....King rightly figured that a big lump was required and got Heywood from Burnley reserves, they may have been Div 2 at the time.

He couldn't jump back then, but could effectively lean into people and stick his head on the ball....he did OK for us for a couple of seasons, but made the classic error of thinking he was better than he was, went for a few bob more in wages and was found out.

Like a lot who leave us...Billy Paynter will be next in line.

From the day Heywood signed for Swindon he went downhill every season of his career.

He was a decent bloke, and he was a big factor keeping us up in 2001. But I used to see him out on the Town a lot and you wonder if he could still have been League 1 level if he had looked after himself?

Tinnion gave him a big contract and in a lot of ways he did us a big favour leaving, because he was on the way down and we might have stuck with him for years.

Disagree... playoff season 03/04 he was solid as a rock week in week out.

We conceeded fewer league goals in 2001-02 than we did in 2003-04.

Reeves was going rapidly downhill as well, but I remmember thinking Heywood wasnt the player he was in the 3-0 defeat at Chesterfield in 2003.

I said as soon as you signed LP that he would have a really positive influence on your struggle to avoid playing the 'Oxfords' of this world. The perfect sort of character for a team in your predicament.
He isn't lacking in ability, as I'm sure you've seen, but my thinking was that his main strength would be in training, in the dressing room, his ultra-positive personality keeping your other players 100% switched on.
The right move for everyone - we've improved & left him behind, he needs games at this stage of his career (and a contract), and you needed this type of character and his amount of experience.
I hope you survive. But if you do go down - FUCKING KEEP THOSE OXFORD CUNTS DOWN THERE.

Let the fuckers rot in the Sunday League. We can play each other every 10 years in the Cup for their Cup Final and then give them a shoeing on and off the pitch. They can then go back to playing Barrow Temeperence XI until they earn the right to play a league team again and they can hope they strike lucky and draw us. Obviuosly if we go up then this will be nigh on impossible as the Scummers would need to get thruogh to the 3rd round.  

Not if you've lived amongst the cunts since the early 80's like I have. I do agree that there aren't many better things in life than beating them (I accept that for some people it's the slave-traders/Reading, but living where I do it is 100% Poxford), but every single day since they got put back where they belong has been just so enjoyable around here. They don't even bother arguing anymore because there is nothing they can say. For the first couple of years it was always "You're going down & we're coming back up", but they don't even bother with that anymore. Lording it over them and watching their faces go red is the best fun that you can have with your clothes on.   

Grimsby continue to look doomed, although they beat Accrington away 3-2 on Monday, but you have to love Peacs for his commitment to the cause.

Watching that it reminded me how much i love footballers who move clubs and their accent changes almost instantly like It's a primal thing just to fit in :)

Paul stewart was one who moved all over the place and of course that famous clip of Jan Molby when he first joined liverpool and then watching an interview of him a year later with a scouse accent which was shown on fantasy football a few years back.
