great documentary. Pure comedy in parts. John Gorman's hilarious as is Ray Hardman when goes off on one.

Also love it that Gorman gave Chris Hamon "an almighty swipe and hit him right across the lug" :D

in part 3 around 1:38, the guy in the middle - is he the guy who is still around? tends to follow people around and talk them to death?

This was quality. Hardman comes across as real tinpot nutcase, Steve White should have his own show and Micky Hazard was an excellent grumpy old sod. I loved it when he was telling off Hoddle.

You've spoken to him? Impressive. He's spoken to me many times, but I've never been given a chance to get a word in.

It's the eye contact he goes for.

Got my mate to ask him for directions once as he didn't know about him, very funny trying to see him get away.

Watched it this morning and My favourite scene is Chalky and Kevin Morris in the First aid room.
They're both being brutally honest and seeing that and the scene where Morris is emotional on the bench it really brought back how sad it was for him to take his own life.
Trollope was also excellent

You got a few glimpses of the sadness Morris was carrying around in that scene. Pretty heartbreaking stuff really.

Also, a complete legend for sitting on the bench smoking a pipe. Last of the old school.

Not long after Morris lost his wife i went into the Swiss Chalet for a drink one afternoon...he was sat at the table with a half a shandy and tears in his eyes...i said hello but could tell straight away that he wanted to be on his own...very,very sad.

I thought he didn't lose his wife though, please correct me if i'm wrong.

She had some "terminal" disease which turned out not to be terminal, that's what my memory says. And i thought he took his life cause he was concerned about job security, thinking the club were going to replace him.

I could be wrong on all this, only going from what i heard all those years ago. So please correct me if i am.

Youve probably corrected me Bedford...it maybe that she was very unwell...anyway whatever the reason was he was very unhappy that day...was a real shock.

Watching this makes you realise how good those times were and the characters around the club.

Chalkie and Kevin Morris talking about players feigning injury when they aren't in the team. It just summed up Chalkie's whole mindset and you can see the hurt in Kevin Morris when he talked about his sick wife and that he wouldn't be doing the job.

You could also see the tension in Kevin and Eddie Buckley in the Tranmere game and the interview with John Trollope who had been around the club for years and had it's blood in their veins, only for McMahon and Hunt to rip the soul and history away from our club.

There's a couple of great examples of Shaun Taylor's attitude, he took an elbow straight in the face at a corner at Tranmere and just picked himself up to carry on defending. Also I had forgotten in the move for his goal at Wembley in went in for a header with 2 Leicester players and took them both out.

Glenn Hoddle's choice of knitwear and the sports casual look is 'triffic' as he would say and Alan Partridge like. You also see the bit where Glenn and John Gorman are mulling around before handing in their resignations and Ray Hardman asks 'John do you have time for a quick word'. Would our Premier League experience have been different if that didn't take place.

Overall a grea documentary and you realise truley special times

Kev was a great bloke, miserable as sin most of the time but one of the most down to earth blokes I ever met.

Always gave me a handful of sweets when he walked past me when I was stewarding (obviously thought I needed them) sadly missed, top bloke and an awesome presence in the dressing room.

Stayed loyal to the club even when Brian Clough came calling for him in '76 when he had just taken over at Forest but he was loyal to us.

Absolutely lives & breathes STFC though, fair play to the shouty old scrotum.

Is there any way I can watch this without it affecting my downloading figures?  At the moment I use a mobile broadband stick with limited download capacity - I'd love to watch this again and being a technophobe I don't know if youtube clips count towards this, although I'm guessing they probably do.

If that makes no sense, I've been celebrating my going-to-be-a-dad status tonight with a few mates and more than a few beers, so forgive me.

I'm ace.

everything counts towards your download limit. It's downloaded data, every webpage has an amount of data within it

Title: Re: That's Football documentary
Post by: Doore on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, 00:39:58
Fair enough, but does watching an hour of youtube clips take up a lot more than just browsing, for instance, BBC sport for an hour?

Title: Re: That's Football documentary

I'd expect so, videos have a lot more data in them.

What's your download limit?

unless you're downloading stuff or watching youtube every day you have no reason to worry.

Old Kev was a top bloke, sadly missed. A real character from an era when most blokes lived and breathed the game.

Some pretty unsavoury rumours were going around at the time he topped himself. Fucking shame that his service at the club was tainted.

Funniest bit on that TV prog is the bit where the apprrentices give Oggie a wedgie in the dressing room, then he gets all fucked up about it and starts asking them how many goals they've scored at Wembley (not sure why, how many fucking goals diid HE score at Wembley??).

The apprentices then rip the twat to shreds by refusing to be impressed and mocking him. Fucking ace:-)
