Title: Catering at the CG
Post by: Nemo on Friday, February 26, 2010, 17:00:01
A lot of you love to moan about the food (perhaps fairly) and there's another opportunity for you to do so on the STFC Website:

Atleast the frying brigade did bacon. The day that was removed from the menu was a sad one.

You see, that is what is completely absent from the club when it comes to catering. Look outside the ground. What do supporters eat and drink away from the stands? It's not difficult. How about:

- roast pork, crackling and stuffing buns?
- quality burgers bigger than a ten pence piece after they are cooked?
- well cooked fish and chips?
- nice sausage and onion dogs?

Well curse any of them as 'expensive' compared to ground prices, but you get what you pay for. Fifty pence more outside in my experience and I am prepared to pay the extra for the quality. Blinkered - the club lose out.

Often, they counteract this by not bothering with the latter part of the sentence.

PS plus the Town End 'eatery' has stopped doing bacon rolls. For fuck's sake. How stupid is that? Obviously it is a catering nightmare to have to cook food rather than warm it up, as in Wrestler's 'hot dawgs'. Despair.  ::)

Apologies, I missed this post. Yup.

It would never happen in a free market economy.

Stoppit. We have a free market economy when to comes to football Saturday. I buy my food from the DRS van and the club can go to hell with its catering :-p

Actually I think the club charge the van caterers outside a pitch fee, so they kind of win both ways. Less blinkered than may at first appear, maybe?

But I'd agree they could and should improve the quality of what's on offer inside the ground. Although personally I'd settle for just being able to watch the end of the first half, go downstairs, get some chips and actually see the start of the second half.

But mainly, given the host of really rather unpleasant memories that have come flooding back with Mr Andronikou's scaly reappearance on the national psyche, Chester's nasty fate, Ridsdale's ongoing rape of Cardiff, and all the ones we don't know about, I'm just chuffed to fucking biscuits that the best thing we've got to moan about is the chips and pies in the ground.

I don't think your fellow supporters will be too chuffed to learn that you show your pleasure at our success by sullying the half-time hobnobs.

They're my hobnobs and if I want to put a bit more nob in than hob, then I damn well will.

I think they have improved the speed now, but the qualities not very good. Usually cold, preheated /warmed. They really need to invest in a broiler (burgers are cooked on a conveyor belt) for the burgers & proper sausages for the hot dogs- Westlers are crap.

Quite.

I will shut my gob, or preferably stuff it full of roast pork and crackling instead.

Part of the problem is a lot of people have always wanted flicky fanny food cooked by Jean-Cristophe Novelli, but the best you can hope for in Swindon is something served out of the microwave at Two For One. At least that's hot I spose.

If you think the catering at the County Ground is bad, you should try the missus's roast dinner.
