I'd probably accept that! Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: dell boy on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 13:26:44 Current value £1.5m - as much as Coxy already.
Keep banging them in Charlie Boy. Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 13:26:53 Yep. Cheerio! :D
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: DMR on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 13:34:39 To say he's worth the same as Cox already is absolutely fucking laughable, typical shit work by Sky
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: RobertT on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 14:18:04 He's not worth the same right now, but he could be worth a lot more in the future even if not with us. He's got that rare ability of being a natural in the box which goes much further than footballing talent.
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: DV on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 14:20:45 To say he's worth the same as Cox already is absolutely fucking laughable, typical shit work by Sky Cox went for 1.9m so more than 1.5m Transfer value these days is usually determind by lenght of contract. Cox had a year left when we sold him. Austin has what another 2 and a half? years Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: Harold Shipmans Glasses on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 14:25:43 classic swindon well let him go for nothing like always
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: carbonwhite on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 15:08:41 classic swindon well let him go for nothing like always i think if he was to go we would get our moneys worth. cox could have gone for under a million but we got 1.9m so it was a good deal for a league 1 team.Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 15:25:34 Austin is a far better player now than Cox was when he first came here, and in a lot less league games as well. He's shown he can score with his head and can create opportunities rather than relying on tap ins, though it would be nice to see him scoring some from outside the area.
Its not just about what a players really worth though, its what we'd sell them for. During the transfer window I reckon a £1m offer would have been needed to tempt Fitton to sell. If he carries on scoring at a similar rate and hits 25 goals then I reckon that would go up to £2m in the summer - the long contract means no rush to sell and he could easily lead us to promotion which would be worth a lot of money. Would anyone pay £2m in the summer? Maybe not, but there are always clubs lining up to pay big money for strikers - especially if they're score close to a goal a game. Let's not forget how good Austin is already, whilst he's a goal machine there is a lot more to his game than that - winning another good header to set up the 2nd against Huddersfield for example. Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: penhill red on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 15:35:06 Austin has the knack of just being in the right place at the right time, his only down side is after an hour he looks fucked, give him a year to get the fitness up to scratch and if he keeps his goal ratio anywhere near what it is now i'm sure he will go for more than Coxy.
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 15:42:35 He may stay. Better at STFC in the championship than else where
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: penhill red on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 16:02:45 Yeah of course he will stay, we gave him his chance in the big time, he owes us now.
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: Power to people on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 16:05:37 I'm sure we will see this in the adver tomorrow....
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: penhill red on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 16:06:45 Yeah another Adver "exclusive"
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: carbonwhite on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 16:07:04 hes given more than enough since hes been here even if he had only scored 6-7 goals in the 15 games he would still be highly rated
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 16:08:42 They forgot to give him 10/10 for his name. Charlie Austin is better football name than even Roy of the Rovers.
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: Langers on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 18:09:19 If he doesnt score for the rest of the season, they'll be saying he's worth nowt.
Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: Arriba on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 18:11:35 austin is more like parkin than cox if we are comparing him to a player.
his link up play, heading, and the way he attacks the ball are very similar in style.i dont think his finishing is quite as tidy as super sams was, but thats being picky. Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 18:34:07 austin is more like parkin than cox if we are comparing him to a player. his link up play, heading, and the way he attacks the ball are very similar in style.i dont think his finishing is quite as tidy as super sams was, but thats being picky. I think it is though Arriba. Only chance i've seen Austin miss is that first half one against Charlton which was poor for his standards. But that tells you about the lads ability to finish. Title: Re: Sky Sports Scout - Charlie Austin Post by: ronnie21 on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 19:13:08 I'm sure we will see this in the adver tomorrow....
