Swindon Town have agreed a deal to sign Portsmouth winger Matt Ritchie on loan until May 15th.

The 20-year-old, who spent a, extended loan stay at League Two Notts County earlier this term, will train with his new teammates for the first time this morning and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's clash with Huddersfield Town.

Ritchie has been handed squad number 11, formerly occupied by Anthony McNamee.

Had a look on the footy league website but not much help. It'll be tight for the semi's i would imagine as our season ends on 8th May. Might get the first leg out of him.

The final isn't the same this year as previous years as its on a saturday as Gaz quite rightly says.

The've altered the playoff dates especially The Champonship one (brough a week forward i think) because of the World Cup.

Aren't there some special rules for clubs that are fucked financially, allowing them to sell players outside of the transfer window to allow them to balance the books? Might just be for Football League clubs, or I may have made the whole thing up.

Either way, I don't know why Wilson would sign Ritchie now and not wait a couple of weeks so he could play through to the end of the season. Though I guess we do really need the cover now and out current first eleven will all be here come the end of the season (including Ward and Sheehan).

Wonder if he'll ask for wages upfront. :D

Just had a look on his Wiki and he's scored 15 goals in 60 appearances. Pretty good strike rate if he can keep it up at this level.

Good signing, if I was Wilson I'd loan Macklin out to a club in L2 or conference as I can't see him featuring much, and would be good for the lad to get some experience as he isn't ready for this level.

No idea, but 11 goals in 30 odd games for D and R, last season, suggests he might have some ability.

The Notts County fans at work are a bit miffed that we've signed him.  He impressed for them whilst he was on loan & they were keen to sign him,  However with the uncertain financial state of Notts leading to a transfer embargo they couldn't.  I was told that he's not especially pacey but tricky & with a good left foot.  All the signs are that he'll be a very good addition to the squad.

Just been reading some Notts fans views on 606, they all seem to rate him, and peed off they couldn't sign him.

says on sky sports that portsmouth might be able to sell players outside the transfer window. im not sure if the mean outside of england or not but could mean that ritchie could sign.

Portsmouth have asked if they can, but the chances of it happening are approximately nil.

Maybe a suggestion, call me silly but should we see him play first?

if portsmouth are asked to take a points drop in return then they will they dont want to see a club run out of football so they probably will let them. says that there considering it if the chances was nil then they would have said no straight off
