Title: The Praise List Post by: Nemo on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, 23:54:30 It's a testament to human nature that it's a whole lot harder to compile this list that it is to compile the Punch list, but the premise is the same: 5 people you'd like to praise, shake the hands of, whatever. 5 people who you'd offer the opportunity to punch the people off the other list in your stead (not just because they can punch harder mind)
I'm fully expecting people off one person's Praise list to be on another's Punch list, so lets watch this dissolve into an argument when Alan puts Nigel Farage or someone on his. Keep it to people who are alive and reasonably famous please. 1. Terry Pratchett 2. Dr Ben Goldacre 3. Dennis Skinner MP 4. Andrew Fitton and Nick Watkins (I know, merging people again) 5. David Mitchell That was irritatingly difficult, I'm sure I'll think of loads of people once I've posted this. Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: 4D on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, 23:57:02 Mr Farage is a good speaker though.
Is Dave Mitchell the footballer or comedian? Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: Nemo on Thursday, February 11, 2010, 00:04:52 Comedian. He's basically the grumpy old man I know I will grow up to be.
Farage was an example anyway. I suspect Alan is more likely to choose Daniel Hannan, who is a massive twat anyway. But that isn't really the point of the thread Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, February 11, 2010, 00:15:07 Who is Dr Ben Goldacre ?

"Without him South Africa would have disintegrated into violent chaos worse than Rwanda or Cambodia." Do you have any idea how ironic that statement is? Google is your friend. Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: leefer on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 13:32:44 Mandela was a terrorist...most white South Africans will agree,he will say however he had good reason to be one...thats another argument..he spent nearly thirty years in prison as a punishment and didnt show one ounce of bitterness.
In my opinion he is one of these special people, abit like Ghandi. He did the crime and did his time...for countrys and communitys to move on people who resort to terror have to be reconciled and talk together, like Ireland many people are repulsed that former IRA and Protestant killers are having a big say in the country going forward...not back. Was Boeta a terrorist?...to many blacks he was in the same way as Mandela is to the older Bok white brigade. Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: tans on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 13:42:33 Was Boeta a terrorist? no, he likes his cricket too much Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: Barry Scott on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 14:31:20 ...abit like Ghandi. Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: leefer on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 14:37:21 Ghandi was a cunt that has conveniently had decent PR. A bit like Mother Theresa to be honest. Get a grip...all great leaders have good PR....Churchill was a cunt in many ways...but he was a great leader when we needed one.....so was Ghandi. Title: Re: The Praise List Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 14:48:38 Depends on your definition of a terroist, yes mandela was a terroist if you think the ruling party was democratically elected and not at all fucking racist murderous fucks.
