Laying veneer flooring, servicing cars, general stuff and listening on the ray-dee-oh instead. Mind you, sticking pins in my eyes would also be a better alternative. Why are you so hard up this year Luci, out of interest? Saving for something? Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, 21:30:08 We are having our best season in ages, and this is our biggest away game in ages and it sounds like barely anyone is travelling - 'I've been before' sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me.

It'd be a round-about route but fuck it, it could work out cheap.. http://www.londonmidland.com/ Haven't looked into it in too much depth as I'm not going.. Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Acetripper on Friday, February 12, 2010, 10:08:53 Terriers fan in peace here!
Really looking forward to this one! I notice some of you don't have many positive things to say about previous visits to the Galpharm which is surprising because most fans for other clubs usually do! Apart from the stereotypical up- t'north jibes I would expect you to have a fairly good time up here. I'd say our fans are pretty friendly and like to chat and exchange views with away fans too. The only time we get trouble here is when away fans come looking for it and show no respect! Generally though it's fine! Our recent drop in home form has meant the atmosphere has dropped quite a bit mainly because we were winning games 7-1, 6-0 and 5-0 etc and since the goals have been harder to come by, the crowd has lost some of it's voice. That said, I wouldn't say we're 'happy clappy', so much as we we tend to muck about with the Mexican wave because we're bored. Post-Modern irony of the Yorkshire kind! :D Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: suttonred on Friday, February 12, 2010, 11:43:53 I wouldn't read too much into what most of the miserable sods on here say AT, they are all Leonard Cohen advocates '). I'm looking forward to it, any recommended bus routes back to the station after the game? I'm normally a liitle "tired and emotional" come final whistle. Tomorrow is what football tension is really about, could go either way imo, should be a cracking game.
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Acetripper on Friday, February 12, 2010, 12:07:42 It really is a short walk to the station (10 mins) and by the time you've waited for a bus in all the traffic you could have been up to the station and on your train.
Have a safe journey! I notice you mention calling at the 'Head of Steam', the one at the other end of the station forecourt called the Kings Head is very good too. It's has a sign with Jimi Hendrix on it! Regards AceT. :D Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: westcountry on Friday, February 12, 2010, 12:13:52 What's the pub for away fans then?

Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Acetripper on Friday, February 12, 2010, 12:24:06 What's the pub for away fans then? i see FGG gives about 3 ??? As far as I know there's not really a designated 'away fans pub/s' full stop. I suppose the Market Tavern on Leeds Road used to be a place where the fuzz would guide away fans to but I'm not sure these days. Our fans tend to booze in the town centre and arrive at the Stadium 10/15 minutes to kick off, so if there's a large away following most of the pubs near the ground are full of away fans. Best places for a sensible, non-confrontational drink are the ones I've mentioned above plus one of two others, which I'll post if you're interested. AceT :D Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Spy on Friday, February 12, 2010, 12:39:04 Best places for a sensible, non-confrontational drink are the ones I've mentioned above plus one of two others, which I'll post if you're interested. OK but where are the best places for a confrontational drink? For example if people are reading this and fancy taking over "your pub" and potentially instigating a ruck where should they head for? Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Acetripper on Friday, February 12, 2010, 15:10:57 An affectionate name for our hardcore older fans who travel hell and highwater to every away game, look out for badge lady! I used to be a dribbler I suppose! At one time I'd done all 92 ground watching the Terriers but I packed in religiously traveling to every away game about ten years ago. I still have a season ticket but these days I just pick and choose away games that take my fancy. I'll be at Gillingham in early March mainly because I've not been for years but after that, who knows? I've always really enjoyed the London matches. Train to Kings Cross from Leeds, few drinks before the game, a few more after, up Brick Lane for a Curry, then home on the last train half cut, great stuff! Over the years I've met some strange and wonderful football fans from all over the place. Like the Bristol Rovers fan who lives on Holy Island in Northumberland and has a season ticket and the Hartlepool fan who lives in Newton Abbott in Devon and travels to every game. Now if they were Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea fans then maybe I could understand it more but Jeeeesus, League One clubs? No way! The power of the beautiful game hey? Or are we all just f**kwits? :D Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Friday, February 12, 2010, 16:50:00 A certain dribbler once phoned up diamandis mobile phone day and night :)

For example if people are reading this and fancy taking over "your pub" and potentially instigating a ruck where should they head for? Good Evening We used to have a fantastic and quite famous hooligan pub just down from the railway station called the Crescent but alas it is no longer A quality pre and post match pub is the Vulcan if you want to mix with some old school fans. The Gas club is for the happy clappers. Unfortunately like many other clubs we have become a bit happy clappy in recent years with the cheerleaders and drumming etc, though I think the Mexican wave was tongue in cheek, though still cringeworthy. The tiny away followings from there being so many southern teams doesnt help. The atmosphere does alter however, when the bigger clubs/followings are in Town. Hopefully Swindon will bring a few tomorrow due to the importance of the fixture this season. See you in the Vulcan Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Luci on Friday, February 12, 2010, 18:04:46 Why are you so hard up this year Luci, out of interest? Saving for something? Come out of the 'King's (Jimi's) Head' down the side of the square, past the George Hotel and turn left, walk along that road under the railway arches and at the traffic lights you'll find another real ale gem 'The Sportsman'. Why not come test that theory with me tomorrow mate? I promise it's truly amazing! Trouble is you might end up missing the match and coming to your senses at about 5pm only to reaiise the Terriers have hammered your lads 6-0 and your 'afternoon escort' is in reality Jo Brand! :D Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, February 12, 2010, 20:43:49 Beer down south does the same....the simple solution is you pass through life permanently pissed.
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: suttonred on Friday, February 12, 2010, 20:47:10 I'm getting Carlisle deja vu, bar the 6-0 obviously, and the fact that the beer didn't change the impression that most i saw there were right rotters, Carlisle station on a sunday morning looked like there had been an escape of mass medical experiments.
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: uddersfeeled on Friday, February 12, 2010, 20:54:08 What would you regard as a good away following tomorrow just out of interest? well.... I would expect 250-300 minimum from a club of your standing anyway, extra interest, good run, play off rivals ..500-700? Incidently according to figures from Football Forum we average about 400 visitors fans at the Galph, and take 1300 average on our travels this season (Yes I know we never take many to Swindon - not sure why, we've taken good numbers to Oxford in the past, perhaps its a better day out...sorry) Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Friday, February 12, 2010, 21:01:02 well youre guranteed a win in oxford
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: suttonred on Friday, February 12, 2010, 21:02:16 We have good support in general away, but if gauging interest on here is to go by, it may be a little too cold, too far, too expensive, too likely to see a bad result, to get everyone fired up, 350 max i reckon.
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Acetripper on Friday, February 12, 2010, 21:09:24 Beer down south does the same....the simple solution is you pass through life permanently pissed. I lived in Oxfordshire for three years and believe it or not the old 'reversal fluid' that normally worked wonders up here, actually worked in reverse down there. One thing for sure, those who do travel up will be made to feel very welcome. Just about to start my pre-match ritual. I've walked the dog already so I'm now on duty with the breakfast shift, which is the least I can do to say I'll be out for the day. Trouble is I always have about three different sittings as my family all get up at different times. At about 9.30am I think I'll watch a DVD of the Wycombe game to put me in the right frame of mind (we won 6-0) then a little bit of Soccer AM (don't know why really). Then it's a quick shower and off to the local for a 'brightener' at mid-day. Followed by the train to Dewsbury (nice real ale bar on the Station), then on to Hudders for yet more 'singing juice'. I tried watch 'em sober once - Nightmare! Then, it's over to you Mr Clarke and the Terrier Boys! What will today bring I wonder? Obviously we both need a win so may the best team do so! One of the dancers thought it would be seductive and sexy to bite my cock through my trousers as hard as she could, at the end of the dance (me with tears in my eyes) asked if I wanted another, I never waited to find out if she meant dance or bite.

It's a mean sexy old scene in Hudders mate! On the the subject of Iffy and trousers, he used to live just down the road from me in Churwell Nr Leeds and I used to chat with him as he jogged past my house, usually on a Sunday morning. One day saw him coming out of a local taylors shop in the Town and I said Hi as usual and as I walked past the shop the taylor was standing in the doorway, so I asked "Iffy got some new pants then!" and he replied, "Nope I was letting the legs out so the fitted him better!"... Will be interested to hear your feedback after the game Hudds fans. Oh, I nearly forgot. I went on a Hudds site when we beat you earlier in the season and we were referred to as 'tinpot'. 1-1 draw today methinks. Cheers Mate, I always try to be as objective as possible pre and post match. During the game's a different matter mind you. I see no point in slagging off your opponents either. I'd never call Swindon Town 'tinpot' and what matters todays is 3pts. Post-match I usually call it as fairly are possible so I'll post a Terriers view on here if that's okay with you all. Bare in mind I will say how I saw it, so if you play shite I'll say so and visa versa of course. Have a good game, I'm really looking forward to it, so good luck after 5pm. :D Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: ron dodgers on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 11:34:22 is Ace the Huddersfield Smeeton?

Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: penhill red on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 12:39:57 we will win 3-2 anyway, so fuck the selfish bastard :D
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: axs on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 13:35:18 Where is the matchday thead? KoT knows we'll probably lose this one, so is waiting for someone else to start it so he can claim we lost because he didn't start it. Or he got pissed last night and hasn't woken up yet. Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 14:03:29 He's been making fucking threads about animals all morning!
Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: DV on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 14:29:39 Plus, KoT match day thread draw to win ratio probably isnt as great as he makes it sound!

Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: donkey on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 15:51:41 I'm getting Carlisle deja vu, bar the 6-0 obviously, and the fact that the beer didn't change the impression that most i saw there were right rotters, Carlisle station on a sunday morning looked like there had been an escape of mass medical experiments. Well, Leicester station looked like one of those had travelled to Leicester, by the time I got off the train. :-[ Title: Re: Huddersfield Away Post by: Saxondale on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 15:53:13 just woke up sorry. pissed and shagging but in my defence it was a friday and she was nearly my age. Loads of stewards, but never saw any police at all.
Last time we went to Barnsley they had police on horseback. I was expecting it to be more like that. The stewards were pretty good, I got some beers and a balti pie at HT, and asked if i could nip out for a fag. The main one said, oh no cant do that....but we dont check the toilets ever!
