Title: neighbours fighting
Post by: Miss Angry on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, 14:35:19
The couple next door are screaming at each other then theres smashing noises and she's crying alot... he is also growling at her. I can hear it clear as day but they are not speaking english so dont know what they are saying.
I get on with the woman we quite often chat in the garden in the summer.
Ive banged on the wall but that didnt stop them...i dont know if i should maybe knock on the door or something... im not a nosey person but im not sure if i should actaully ignore it either... what would you do?

Don't do nothing.

Do you think it's domestic abuse?

May be when he goes to work i'll check if she ok? I dunno... im well aware sometimes things are best left its just rubbish having to listen to it and not being able to help

In all seriousness I would probably end up doing nothing but that's not the right thing to do.

I hate this idea that someone being violent to someone else within a relationship is private and you shouldn't interfere if you don't like it.

I would be scared if I didn't do something then something bad might happen but if he's a scary bloke  it might be hard to get involved?? I'd say call the police but they would probably turn up a week next Wednesday or something

"It happens once a week" you say, shouting, screaming and violence...

....sounds like our household - normally when dancing on ice is on tele.

A friend of mine is Ghanaian and some of the stories he's told me about Accra are pretty crazy. If a thief is seen stealing some from a market stall, they will be chased by a mob of people. If they're lucky they will get away with a severe beating but it's often much worse, with people being set on fire. Petty theft is considered as bad as murder there.

The thing is, they won't do it again after the first time due to be scared. Thats what it should be like in this country.

Just make sure everyone is still alive and leave them to their arguments

How about the punishment for every crime being death? Wouldn't that be ideal? No repeat offenders. Ever.

I think we should burn anyone who hasn't committed a crime. The fucking do-gooders.

Do you know this to be true?  Much of the research into serious crimes in this country suggests that tougher sentences have minimal affect on crime rates and re-offending.

In the USA in many states murderers can get executed and because of that harsh punishment no one kills anyone there... oh wait...

I think the total fucing ineffectiveness of the 3 strikes rule in the States pretty much confirms that. If the prospect of a lifetimes imprisonment for any offence isn't enough to stop someone from stealing a six pack of beer then what is..

You have to embrace this behaviour.  It's cultural enrichment that is to the benefit of us all.
