Title: Billy Paynter going for a new STFC record
Post by: michael on Friday, February 5, 2010, 18:56:02
If the talented target man bags tomorrow against Charlton that will be 8 consecutive games that he has scored in.

He is currently tied on 7 with Sam Parkin and Bobby Barnes.

Good luck Bill.

Think you need to do a bit of research before posting such blasphemies

I should add that this is a post-war record.

Come on Billy, treat us to some history.

Neither Parkin or Barnes scored in 7 in a row...

So what you are saying is that Billy is already a record holder then.

Amazing.

No I'm saying it's Harry Morris.

Post-war, possibly, I haven't done any research, I'll leave that to DV.

Shaun Hodgetts mentioned something on the radio.

My first thought was he said 7 is the record, as Parkin and Barnes only managed 6 but I wasnt 100% certain I heard him right.

Fair play to Billy..with our games in hand he could push for lge 1 top scorer.

As much as i thought Barnes was brilliant, he cant have scored many more than that in total whilst with us?

Bobby Barnes had a brilliant start to his Swindon career but I remember he got sent off for making a V sign at the linesman after a goal was chalked off for offside, when in fact he was indicating with his fingers the other way around that's two you've disallowed. Think there was a fall out with Lou Macari the next season and was shipped off to Bournemouth as we made the play offs

He was Ok but oiver rated. I remember a 0-0 draw up at Blackburn when he rounded the keeper and hit it goalwards and ran back to the centre circle hands aloft. Un fortunately, it had pissed it down and the ball got stuck on the goal line.

my post did state post war.

What on earth has a bloody war got to do with it ? Shall we just throw in the Suez campaign, Falklands war or Mau Mau offensive to suit the statistics ? It's Harry Morris then, and he was good enough to spend 7 years with us. Match that Billy boy and your agent buddy !

...because when I checked to see if Defoe had the record it said he had the post war record so that's what I posted!
