Title: mobile phone insurance
Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, February 4, 2010, 10:28:38
has anyone insured their phone independantly, as in with a company other to the one supplied to you when you got your phone, my insurance was quoted as 7.99 month which i thought was a bit steep considering im allready paying £40 a month for the phone, so im looking at getting it insured by a different company for cheeper (hopefully) any reccomendations?

You obviously have to pay an excess on that though should you lose/break it. But you're getting the peace of mind for free, i guess as you're already paying for it.

Just a thought, with all these 'cash for mobiles' adverts now, I bet the insurance company won't pay out so willingly.

Good point. But then i suppose if you report it stolen, get your crime number etc. there isn't too much they can do, if your mobile is covered by your policy? I don't really know the intricacies of insurance...

Some bank accounts also include mobile phone insurance in their monthly fee.

Make sure it covers call costs too. My mate learnt the hard way that someone can run up a massive bill in just a couple of hours

I took out insurance from the bank for my phone, £3 a month for first 3 months then £7pm onwards and it includes Phone, AA breakdown cover and a few other things (can't remember what though!) Bargain in my eyes as another place wanted double that.
