Mine was nearly 2 years old when it happened, and they fixed it for me.

I had the same problem a year or so ago. They replaced xbox for free. I mainly use my xbox to play online, and the xbox live experience is second to none. Have played on my mates PS3 and most of the games were laggy and found it difficult to join many games.
