Just got my tickets for The Town End for this game and the guy in the ticket office says over 13,000 tickets sold now with Leeds selling out their allocation. Possible full house on the cards for a night game should make a wicked atmosphere!

That's different Rich you live god knows how many miles away. It's the people of Swindon who don't bother going to any other games in a season other than this one that piss me off. The Town End is not normally that busy where I sit these days. But I can guarantee that when I get inside the ground on Tuesday night some dick will be there in my seat. I'll happily tell them that it is my seat and show them my ST. Will be crammed in there. Remember against Southampton it was like being boxed in behind the goal. Yet the very next game against Southend I could have had 3 seats all for myself. Don't get me wrong I'd love us to get bigger crowds but on a weekly basis and not for 2 or 3 games a season where people turn up and don't even have a clue who our number 2 is for example. Just annoys me.

I do find it strange how Leeds is a big draw for some fair-weather fans these days... it's not as if they have any 'names' or owt.

A good performance, coupled with our current form could get a few people along for future games though.

I haven't missed an away game this year, including last night. But don't have a season ticket and still don't have my ticket for Tuesday! So if i don't manage to get a ticket i won't be too happy >:(

I'm the opposite, very little interest in being squashed in and getting grumpy, so avoid the big home ones, also i think witnessing our 4-0 tonking years ago, might have given me an aversion to watching us against leeds.

The big crowd will be because they are still a big club, for now, so they draw in lapsed fans as well as plenty of people who will go with no affiliation with either club other than living in Swindon.  If you ask them they won't claim to be fans either, I know a few who are interested in going but have teams thank you very much.  Has nobody every gone to watch another game that Swindon were not involved in?

To be honest, it's money in our bank, so who gives a fuck why they come.

The only thing that will annoys me about playing Leeds at home is that it seems to be the only game of the season where there will be away supporters in with the home fans who will cheer if Leeds score.

Are sure that's not like their version of the junior robins Wiggy,years ago when my boy was a youngster we was given free tickets for the family stand away to blackburn,when we got to ewood park their family stand was the upper tier at other end from the town fans.

We happened to get the same reaction as you're talking about from their fan's,about fifteen of us was in our colours surrounded by a mass of blue and white.I think leeds and other clubs may do the same thing,being a school night tho you may find it different this time around.

They are no different to any "big" club, they have fans all over the country so will no doubt have many fans in the home end. Personally I'll never understand why people feel affilliated to a club from another part of the country that they have absolutely no connection with, but it seems pretty common in the UK  :) . I go to my local pub to have a beer and watch a game and it always makes me chuckle inside when I hear "come on United" in a strong west country burr. Each to their own  ::)

You say it's common in the UK, and you're right. However, I wouldn't say it's more common than elsewhere, and I think one of the things we can hold on to in this country is that we have the best supported lower league system in the world. Germany, Italy, Spain...once you get outside the top division or two there's not a lot going on.

I reckon its a lot less common here and at least they do it with clubs in the country they live in.

There might be a lot of "fake" Man Utd fans in England, but that's nothing compared to the number in Asia.

Don't forget either that the Premier League is a lot bigger in the other main European football countries, than any of their leagues are over here. I can't be arsed watching any foreign football but everybody loves the Premier League.

I was watching a magazine style programme for La Liga or Seria A, and they were saying loads of supporters there like to keep up to date with the Premier League as its like a soap opera. Not sure that's a good thing, but still.

I'm bringing along 3 friends who support other clubs. I also got them along to the Southampton game. That's £22 x 6 into the clubs bank account.
More importantly their is a chance that one who supports Chelsea, would get a season ticket for the Town if the deals right.
The way I look at it, we need bigger gates, & dragging a few mates along initiallly to high profile games can only help that

One or two seasons ago there was a leeds fan in the town end who was found due to reacting to a goal someone told him to leave  :D. The steward then took him away, presumably to another part of the ground.

I think if fan;s are found to have purchased tickets for the wrong area of the ground then insteado f being put into the correct end they should be kicked out of the ground, the know when they purchase their ticket where they wil lbe sitting so there is no excuses, if opposition fans are found in the home end and sit there quietly and don't start jumping around to support their team then fine it's not a problem but the opposite just causes problems.

Night game, will be a cracking atmosphere.

We had a fairly big crowd for Southampton earlier this season. It wasn't capacity but it was the best Home atmosphere this season.

Its a massive game for the League 1 title.

If we beat Leeds they are really rocking and Norwich and Charlton could overtake them in the next week. If Leeds win then they will have restored a lot of confidence and will probably go on to win the league.

I think it was about 10.5k for soton game from memory.  Was my little girls first Swindon game.  She wanted to go home at half time and I had to bribe her with sweets, chips and capri sun!

Agreed. I have spoken to a number of French and Belgian fans at work. The Frenchies nearly always support the bigger teams despite having no geographical relation with the team. A lot of the Belgians support English teams. Some guy on my floor supports Chelsea, when I asked him why he said 'because Belgian football is rubbish'

Drove by the CG at 11 am, queues at the ticket office!!  They were out into the car park.  Guess it was the Leeds game they were after and not renewing season tickets!

Got there at half 10 and only just got home.

The queue wasn't huge, but some things remain the same, one guy in the box office! Gonna have to turn quite a few fans away. People turning up from half 11 onwards might find themselves having to come back on Monday.

Just under 1,000 left apparently. Saw Big Kev going into the club shop as well.

Ive got that sort of big game nervous excitement for this match already. To be honest Im counting down the hours until tuesday, cant fucking wait. Been up there 4 fucking times. Fucking goalie last minute equalisers, penalties, biased refs, weve got nothing. Id love it if we beat them.

This has been our hope since they dropped down to League One. So far that's resulted in no wins in four.

We are undoubtfully a better team but a win would be a great result for us (unless we concede in the sixth minute of injury time).

Fantastic when you take into account that Cox scored a hattrick against Northampton 3 days after the Hereford game and before Dave made the bet :D

The problem is the complete reverse - we always over estimate them, play shit and get stuffed because they're Leeds. We're far too respectful of big teams - hopefully Soton put an end to that.

Last season's game made me so angry, that i want revenge for that. I also think our current team is mentally better than anything we've had before. I can only see them being properly up for this and really motivated.

Apologies for this tangent, but I was just thinking more about the old days in the shrivvy road stand. Those little cordoned off terraced areas in the shrivvy were jam packed with what I would call 'lads'
Got me thinking about the trend nowadays to making football a family game, and make so and so club a family club.

Football is a man thing, its a an opportunity for a little release for testosterone ridden chaps like myself.  I have wife and child at home and do all that family nonsense there, for football I want:
