Fitton and Watkins really have to get a grip on the one aspect of matchdays which is still floundering along hopelessly.


I am a simple soul, and don't expect much from my match-day experience. Turn up, buy programme, buy half time draw ticket, chat with the others around me before the game, and be able to buy some hot food at half time. At the last 3 home games the legends lounge have ran out of hot food before we got to the hatch. I don't want to have to miss the last 5 minutes of the first half just to be sure I can get some food.

I know there are other places in the ground I can get chips, but the boys like it down there and it also gives me an outside chance of getting a carvery bap.

So come on Fitton/Watkins, sort it out. It wasn't even a big crowd yesterday, so you can't claim that you were caught out by increased demand.

Why don't you get something to eat before you get to the ground?

The van outside the county ground does some pretty good footy food. We leave the pub at 2.30, get a hotdog at 2.45 and into our seats for 2.55. All I do at half time is go for a piss and watch the half time scores, belly satisfied an hour previous.

i agree the catering is utter shite.i rarely buy anything in the ground nowadays.
the water for hot drinks is tepid most of the time, and the hot dogs smell like gone off pet food.

I bring my boys to each match (aged 9 and 7) and boys that age are always hungry! We have lunch before leaving Devizes, and chips at half time just hit the spot. It's not too much to ask, is it?

go to york road chippy instead.cheaper and 100 times better

They do need to sort it out, if only due to the income they're missing from all the lost sales.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd spend a few quid on something to eat and drink at half time, but don't as I can't be arsed queuing and most likely having to miss some of the game.

We go to York Road on the way back to the car after evening games - can't get there and back at half time though!

I dont buy anything at the ground and havent done for a fair few years. I used to go with a mate who knew one of the serving birds. The amount of food given to us and the amount of money actually taken. No wonder the club ran up huge debts!!

The problem with the food is that none of it is hot. I only buy food from the ground when I'm desperate.

They'll soon improve the food if people stop buying it.

In fairness they realised it was shit as soon as they took over and sampled it. There was also a survey last year which encompassed views on the food.

Yes I completed the survey. Nothing has changed. I'm not moaning about it, just saying if you don't like it don't buy it and something will be done.

When I got a pasty at Charlton it was too hot to eat and I queued for 30 seconds to get it.

On the other hand, the queue as Fulham was very long for average food at best, plus they didn't do Chips or Cider. But they did have House Wine. Bloody Premiership teams.

God I crave for York Road fish and chips at least once a week! 

Considering how many fish and chip shops are owned by Chinese people in England you would think it would be in the top ten staple foods here.  Is it buggery!  I think in the whole country there are two shops in Hong Kong.  1.3 billion people and they still can't open a few measly fish and chip shops.  Selfish bastards!!!

I never have anything to eat at half time, but do have a gammon bap before the game in the Legends, I think they are lovely. The food has improved tremendously over the last three years so I dont know why you lot are so grumpy sods.

That Chippy on the road opposite the ground (Opposite the fire engine place) is LUSH.

The food in the Legend's Lounge pre-game is very satisfying.

I used to get a bacon roll in the TE before a game but they stopped doing them. I have to agree that the Legends Lounge baps are ace. I haven't tried anything from the van yet but it sounds well worth checking out whenever I next make it to the CG!

The pork rolls from the van in the car park are nice, but a tad overpriced.

i'll accept the poor food if they sort the sound system out, the DR stand is a complete joke, cant hear anything. Which given the club's usual choice of music isn't so bad, but i would like to hear the half time scores.

Shitty burger cooked hours ago in the TE - £2.50
Lush freshly cooked roast pork sex in a bun from the van - £3.50

wiggy's right though, the catering seemed to be improving last season but it's really gone downhill this season. I'd given up trying to get chips at half time (unless Joe's with me and kicking off) because I found it was nigh on impossible to get served at half time in the DRS without missing the first 5-10 minutes of the second half. Yesterday though I thought I'd give it another try as the queues didn't seem too bad (presumably due to loads of other people having given up on it as well). Still took nearly all half time to get served though with only 5-6 people in front of me and then they managed to run out of change. WTF?

Nothing wrong, indeed, for pointing out an opinion was wrong, but something wrong in trying to silence the right to hold that opinion, because it goes against the perceived majority view.

For what it's worth the hounds of hell could never make me eat food at the CG, but I wouldn't criticise those who do avail themselves of the delights on offer, just because I don't agree with them.

Careful on that high horse, you might get dizzy. No-one's tried to silence you, but quite a few people have pointed out when you're talking shite. It's a forum, that will tend to happen

old news too.this was an issue that was raised when the new board took over and has not imrpoved.not that it bothers me as i wont waste my money on it,but if they could clean up their act a bit they'd probably take more money on a match day.

as for the van, it certainly smells more appetising, but the prices looked a bit steep to me.i'll take others word on it that it's good.

I agree with you but the tv outside the bogs has Jeff on and you can catch the scores there. Works for me.

It's not just the DRS which has a shit tannoy. I don't think anything will be done until the future of the ground is known.

Mind you, the tannoy was knackered in the Arkells as well yesterday.

I'm just loving the fact that there's a thread with people letting off steam about the terrible state of ther food and the tannoy.  Go back three years, and there was rather more than that to worry about.  If that's the extent of our worries at the moment, I think we're doing OK.

But yeah...Fitton/Watkins out.

Wankers who go to leave early and then stand in front blocking other peoples view (if you are going to piss off early to avoid the non-existent rush at least leave from the back if you can).

On the up side, the shop now sell those lanyards that you hang your work id badge on - I have wanted a Swindon one for ages. Only trouble is, work have introduced colour coded lanyards so you can tell who is permanent staff and who are contractors, so I have to have a green one!

The food is bloody awful. The best matchday food I've had comes at the rugby - especially Quins at the Stoop. Massive pork baguettes, pies. All lovely. And the bar under the stand beats the legends hands down.

So, yeah. Fitton and Watkins out. Why not.

The tannoy is terrible. Surely it doesn't take much to fix it?

I'm sure they tried to do something to the DRS PA last season?

I'm honestly surprised that the crappy, outdated food hasnt been sorted out yet. There's good money in it if its done right, which is why I'm surprised it's still shit. Greasy burgers were downlisted by the likes of McDonalds and Burger King fucking years ago. Its all healthier chicken wraps and salads now, and they probably make wads more cash selling them. 

Maybe they should bring in some of the local ethnic caterers to sort it out. A good curry or a decent Kebab would be a good start point. Chinese noodles and KFC can follow on later :D

There were some well cute WPC's in the Arkells yesterday. We should play Gillingham every week.
