Title: Penalty kicks question
Post by: Chubbs on Sunday, January 17, 2010, 00:05:46
Since when is the penalty kick taker not alowed to go for a rebound if it hits the post/crossbar?

Justw watching the norwich vs colchester highlights and hoolahan took a penalty hit the crossbar, come back at him and put it away, but was nto allowed.

or is this something thats allways been around? seems a bit of a silly rule to me.

Always been like that. It'd be the same from a freekick too...

I think its to stop you dribbling the ball from the penalty. You get one touch, that's it. Seems fair enough to me.

A penalty taker can score a rebound if it comes off the keeper though

Another point on the Football League show.. anybody see Forster's provocative celebration in front of the Walsall fans? The guy is an absolute cock.

Correct, you cannot score a goal from a free kick, and that includes a penalty, by taking two attempts at it without an opposing player touching it.

The taker cannot touch the ball again until it has been touched by any other player. This can be a teammate.
