Three guys go to stay at a hotel in rural Thailand, and the man at the desk charges them Bt300 for a room. They split the cost hundred Baht each. Later the manager tells the desk man that he overcharged the men, that the actual cost should have been Bt250. The manager gives the bellboy Bt50 and tells him to give it to the men.

The bellboy, however, decides to cheat the men and pockets Bt20, giving each of the men only Bt10.

Now each guy has paid Bt90 to stay in the room and 3 x Bt90 = Bt270. The bellboy has pocketed Bt20.

Bt270 + Bt20 = Bt290 - so where is the missing Bt10?

Well, there is Bt250 still in the till, each of the guys has Bt10 each and the bellboy has Bt20 thus equalling Bt300

Each guy paid Bt93.33 not Bt90.00

each guy paid 90, its just 6.67 of that went to the porter, unknown to them. This totals 270 which as far as they are concerned is the 300 less the 30 discount. Its actually a case of where the missing 20 is as 270-250=20 and the porter nabbed it
