Jimmy Davis was a very good player but not ours,so i don't see how he can be included in this poll.
If the Adver are going to use this criteria, we might as well have included Given,Carrick and
Nicky Coleman in previous polls.

The best right winger i've see at the Town was Ian Miller.Pace to burn,team player,but with the
ability to cross whilst at full pace.The crosses to Andy Rowland on the far post were sublime.
Incidentally, he's now coach at Leeds.

My thoughts entirely when I read this Adver bit...also agree that you can't include loan players, Milner was better than Jimmy Davis.

Windy was great fun...I don't think David Moss gets a mention and he was seriously good.

I always thought of Mossy as a left winger,admittedly he could play on the right,but he spent
most of his career with us and then Luton,playing on the left.A very fine player.

Well for me, I always think of Mossy as more of a right winger, with firstly Tommy Jenkins and then Trevor Anderson more the left sided player, although Trevor Anderson would be more tucked in than line hogger.

There's no way on earth Jimmy Davis should be on the nomination list. He had ability but these pointless lists are surely reserved for those who played more than 13 games for the club - players who played less than 50 should be questioned!

Mossy's hatrick against the Scum on Easter Monday 78,will always hold him in hero status  :)

One of only two players to score a hat-trick in a Swindon/Scum derby, the other being King Arthur.

Oh and Roy Carter never played on the right wing...more of a utility player, he could play out there, but was more often an inside forward, or surprisingly often centre half.

I vaguely remember Miller hugging the touchline in my youth, but of those I remember more clearly, Mark Walters has to come into contention. Equally comfortable on either flank, he possessed a quality that very few Town players of recent years did. It would be criminal if he was wasn't included in at least the nominations.

Good point....I tend to forget those years, as some of our performances were so bad, but Walters was a class act.

I'll back Walters.  He livened up a very dull time to be a town fan.

Was Fenwick a full back or a winger, I don't remember.

Anyway, I do remember him skinning an opposition full back and then tracking back so that he could do it again, and again.

Fantastic stuff.

Certainly wasn't the best, but definately my favourite, on his day he was untouchable. Surprised they didn't put Bamber in, as he played both up front and on the wing, if they had that would have been a close one for me.

Mainly right, he did swap now and again.

my memory of him isn't as crystal clear as i would like it.i do remember him being very direct and scored a fair few goals too.
he was very popular on the terraces also.

When Bambi played out wide, it was great fun, twist and turn get in the box and go down like a new born foal....some times he'd arrive at the back stick and head one in, being 6ft 3.

He even managed to head one in playing for Stoke from an STFC  corner  :)

I was there for that game, he got some right stick, still did us proud though!

Bambi returned a few times with different clubs, and he always would make his way to the Shrivenham Road, to do his ludicrous stretching warm up exercises, so he'd get a chant of Bambi...he fucking loved it.

He was and always will be my favourite Town player of all time.

If only La Bamba hadn't heard that whistle in the crowd when clean through at Luton and nonchantly hit it back to the keeper thinking he was offside in the 1988 Simod Cup Semi and we might have had another Wembley final.

A deceptively good player and when playing out wide would deceive full backs into giving away penalties, could you imagine the pens he would win in the modern game. Wasn't very good at taking them, they usually ended up in Stratton Bank!

Remember an interview with him when we played Blackpool and when he retired he went into property development and recalled that everytime he was near Swindon on business he would have a diversion via the Magic Roundabout to see the County Ground.

Agree with all the Bamber comments, more penalties than a traffic warden.
