I'm on my own tonight and feeling very lazy - I've sat down for a lethargic night in front of the box and realised that for the whole evening there is nothing remotely worth watching on it.  I fear I may end up doing something practical.

Sorry, but the real world darts championship finished on Sunday, with Phil 'The Power' winning his 15th title, with a 107 average in the final, with Barneveld getting a 9 dart finish in an earlier round.

Rubbish.  The Lakeside/BDO is where it's at.  Despite Power's supremacy, the PDC is a Murdoch-funded greed league...much like the Premiership.  The real darts get played at Frimley Green.

The Franchise of Darts.  Obviously Taylor is awesome, but it has always felt fake to me.

The thing on ITV at 9 is pretty good if you like serial killers and women chopped in half.

Although sky have just put on Stoke V Fulham because the Carling cup game was Postponed and Stoke have gone 3-0 up in 20 mins.

Fulham look knackered, must have had a tough game at the weekend, who'd they play?

I know nothing about Darts, played it like twice with a high score of about 20. That said, I've switched the telly on and this Phillips vs Adams match is quite good, no?

Maybe so.  But the standard of football at the County Ground is piss poor in comparison to the standard at Stamford Bridge.  Doesn't stop me enjoying it though.

I'm not really in to darts but I watched the two semi's and the Hankey / Chisnall quarter final and all three games were excellent. It might be the lesser of the two but entertainment wise those games rocked.

Pity they can't sort out the differences and unify the game again.

There's a fair bit of press comment at the moment to exactly that effect...darts needs to reunify if it's going go forward and build a bigger following.  Thing is, the status quo could survive for quite a while.  The BBC's patronage of the BDO championship will keep it going because it will outstrip the PDC comfortably in terms of viewing figures.  But the PDC will survive too because there's more money in it and the standard is higher.

i enjoy watching both.but i reckon a fair few wouldn't get anywhere near the competition if it joined together.
the averages and checkouts are pretty gash in the bdo.it's enjoyable to watch as they keep getting chance after chance to finish legs off, but it's poor quality darts really innit.

I believe that there is a rule that players can move from the BDO to the PDC but not vice versa. Recently players like Mervyn King, Vincent Van Der Voort, Whitlock and the Welsh fella that were in the BDO last year have moved to the PDC as well as many others. Apart from Adams (who is England captain and therefore won't move to the PDC as this would be jeopardised) the BDO is basically a feeding ground for the PDC and Sky who can offer more glamour and money.

All true but it's quite nice not knowing who is going to win. In the PDC it's either Taylor or Barny and occasionally someone else might do something. Boring.

And the thing is...anyone without Sky Sports (ie most people) will be hard pushed even to know the PDC finals were happening.  The BBC have had wall to wall (and free to view) coverage of the BDO finals at the Lakeside all week so, ironically, the BDO players are getting a lot more exposure & recognition.  It's an odd situation.

True also. I must admit I don't really watch any PDC because I don't have Sky.
