i'm thinking of getting a freesat box to get some free hd content.
can i split my sky+feed to do this.and would i be able to get hd from the normal sky+cables.

If you've already got Sky+ then the LNB on the dish should have 4 outputs, two of which will currently be in use for the Sky+.

Run two more cables (I think the HD Freesat box runs two tuners as standard) and hook them up to the box. Simples.

Looks good. I currently use iPlayer through my PS3, but I'm interested in the higher quality.

i was aware of this, but hope to split the feed meaning i wont have to run another cable.ie splitting the feed where it enters my house.

With HD Iplayer available aswell, its fair play to the Beeb. Streets ahead everyone else.

You could try it, but as the receiver actually sends voltage down the coax to power the LNB you'll probably end up frying both the Sky+ and Freesat boxes :)

But you run the risk of Sky+ (or Freesat) not working properly since one LNB output can not feed 2 boxes simultaneously*.

I wouldn't try it. Far better off running a new cable as per Samdy's post.

You can get around it, but you need a special decoder like those that are used in blocks of flats for communal dishes. They cost a few hundred quid though, so it's cheaper to just run new cables.

On the HD box only 1 and a bit. BBC and ITV when they can be arsed.

Think more are scheduled. I can't afford to the massive sky package so this was the next option.

This is a decent site for all freesat stuff. BBC I palyer on this is great.

I would reccomend the Humax Foxsat HDR. I've had 1 since launch and it's a good alternative to sky. On the Humax website they do 'managers specials' recon units with 12 month warranty a lot cheaper.

Don't think so Arriba. The freesat boxes don't have cards like sky, unless you can hack them but I'm unaware if thats possible.

Not possible. If its a concern Arriba you can always go down the freesat from sky box, but then you won't get the HD!

i have another question.
the twin sky+ lead into my house i could do with making longer as i want to move my tv.is there a way i can do this, or would i need to run a longer cable from the dish?

And the extra cable, obviously.

You can get non-threaded ones, but I find they get disconnected a lot if they get knocked, so best to go with the threaded option.
