Great Band.  Saw them a few times.  Ive got a picture of my eldest (who now 6) at the V festival with the pixies in the background.  Thought that was a nice introduction to live music for her!

Summer 1989 was the first time I saw the Pixies.  London was gripped in some transport strike or other, so us young, keen country types thought we best leave early to tackle the anticipated gridlock.

We made it to Kilburn just after three, cutting it fine with only about five hours to spare.......and all day drinking freshly invented.......I can still remember everything about the day, but most memorably the sheer drunken joy of scraping together 8 quid between all of us to buy one Here Comes Your Man t shirt - which I kept.

When I got home, I turned on teletext and Lou Macari had resigned.  It didn't matter.

Suffice to say, the Pixies were utterly magnificent, a magical band at the height of their awesome powers.

Having only been born in 1985 I missed out on the Pixies first time around. I've seen them twice since they reformed though (at V in 2004 and in October this year at Brixton) and although they were brilliant both times, I think I preferred the latter (inside gig and all that). Trompe le Monde is massively underrated.

I'm going to wait and see what BWB thinks before commiting myself.

the lady guitarist on 2:25 either has a massive gurn on or has a very individual jaw movement when singing. she looks like a druggie in that scrappy old t shirt, so i'd say the former.

i dont get the pixies. thier famous song, it has something about heaven in the title maybe, is alright. but that clip sounds fucking horrible to me.

You're thinking of ''Monkey gone to Heaven'', so obviously not about your old mate Robert Maxwell.

Kim Deal, the bassist is the lady in question.  She later went on to form the excellent breeders.  And yes, she had a bit of a drug problem.
