Title: Coffee Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 16:11:26 I’ve just kicked the habit.
I was on at least 8-10 dirty syrupy cups of the black stuff each day on top of the odd diet coke. Not even the good stuff either I was knocking back cheap powdered crap at work that would melt a spoon. Anyway, 4 days in of cold turkey and the sweats and insomnia have gone and I’ve started to notice that I’m waking up far refreshed than ever before. I've always slept well but binning caffeine seems to be rewarding me with a deeper far more refreshing sleep. Concentration levels are up and I’ve noticed that I’m less irritable with the world at large and altogether more chilled. Anyone else an addict or gone clean? It’s an odd drug looking back I was literally buzzing off my tits and running round at 100mph in the afternoon. The fact that without my daily fix I felt lethargic was a vicious circle to drinking more and more until I was drinking copious amounts in the day. I used to only drink the good stuff kidding myself I was a connoisseur but I was soon on the cheap nasty shit like Nescafe like the rest of the drug addled cunts and Scotch. Anyway choose life and crystal meth, it's safer... Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 16:16:31 Tried it before, went cold turkey for about a month. Think I started a thread about it actually.
I'm back on 6 to 8 cups a day now. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 16:22:45 I gave up coffee about 18 months ago...never had a big habit, probably 1 or 2 cups a day, and still drink a bit of tea daily, so never really noticed a huge difference.
I stopped in order to drink more water...which is easy in the warm weather a bit more difficult in winter. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Ginginho on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 16:25:14 I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, same with tea.
I also drink atleast two litres of water a day. I like to hold it all in as long as possible then spend 10 minutes pissing like a racehorse. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 16:29:22 I stopped in order to drink more water...which is easy in the warm weather a bit more difficult in winter. eugh I so agree Reg - Been so bad this week - way too much tea and waayy not enough water - skin lots shit because of it too! >:( Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 16:31:33 eugh I so agree Reg - Been so bad this week - way too much tea and waayy not enough water - skin lots shit because of it too! >:( Sounds painfull. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 17:11:27 I wouldn't say i'm an addict, but i do drink far too much. (Although less of late.)
At times used to get through 250g of beans in about 4 days. I've stopped drinking so much now and have moved to instant to make it less pleasurable. The bad thing is i do have to drink instant double strength though, so probably living in a dream world thinking i drink less. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 17:16:59 You're addicted to Robert Palmer? Up until he died. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 18:44:18 I'm more of a tea person but recently i've been drinking a lot more coffee. I've actually just made myself a huge mug of coffee now funnily enough.
Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 18:49:31 I've got a lovely green tea and lemon on the go. :poofs:
Never been a huge fan of drinking tea through the day and I've been upping the old water to replace the coffee. That said you can't beat a good builders tea with a Sunday fry-up. For my next foray into chemicals I'm going to start injecting plant food . Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 19:53:24 I've cut down loads in the past few months, mainly because I don't work in the office most of the time and clients are tight with their coffee provisions.
I probably still have 6 cups a day. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: yeo on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 20:10:44 Coffee doesnt do anything though,so why give it up?
Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Bennett on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 20:11:01 I've got a lovely green tea and lemon on the go. :poofs: green tea is still caffienated isn't it? Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 20:14:05 You need some red bush tea. Doesn't go well with ginger nuts though
Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 20:24:43 Coffee doesnt do anything though,so why give it up? Oh but it does. About four years ago I was working at a company in Chippenham that had a whizzy free coffee machine with all of the popular blends. At one point I was drinking about twelve cups of strong stuff a day and decided that it was excessive so stopped. As well as tea. The next day I got an awful headache which lasted for a whole week. Researching it a bit I found that caffeine constricts the blood vessels in your brain. When you stop drinking it your brain expands and is too big for your cranium, hence the headache. My good lady had exactly the same thing when we went to France a few years back. Not enough coffee = bonce ache. So I concluded that something that makes you feel bad when you stop taking it can't be good for you. So I haven't drunk the stuff since. As Dazzzza says, I sleep a lot better and don't feel so knackered any more. I miss tea though. My favourite drink, even compared to beer. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 20:35:59 Oh and if you do go the caffeine free route expect some bloody odd looks from people.
"You don't drink coffee????" "Can I offer you a tea instead?" "No?" accompanied by a gasp and a dropping jaw with 'weirdo' formed by the veins on their forehead. I sometimes think that coffee is a clever ploy to make sure that employees' productivity is maximised... Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 20:38:13 Really? Most people make coffee to get out of work for a few minutes every hour.

Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 21:26:53 green tea is still caffienated isn't it? It's a decaf blend, which I suppose is double gay. Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Bennett on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 21:48:07 It's a decaf blend, which I suppose is double gay. i quite like green tea, but that probably doesn't help your casei'm drinking nettle tea :) Title: Re: Coffee Post by: yeo on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 21:57:06 Ive tried all the "healthy" teas and as much as I want to like them they all taste like Dish Water.
Title: Re: Coffee Post by: Bennett on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 22:07:12 yeah nettle tea is vile, the above smiley was before i re-tried it. that'd be why it's sat in my cupboard for ages
Title: Re: Coffee Post by: axs on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 22:13:15 My little brother was recently diagnosed with something that meant he couldn't have any caffeine, he now drinks roobios tea and swears its great. I'm still dubious.
Title: Re: Coffee Post by: herthab on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 22:49:24 Giving up fags, booze, caffeine, losing weight, started fitness regimes........
You'll all live into your nineties! Dribbling, not knowing who anyone is, shitting/pissing yourselves, being abused by care home workers........ Time for a coffee and a fag. |
