A highly coveted striker, the club (Bolton) secured the services of Danny Ward from Leeds United when he was 16 years old.

He is regarded as a big, strong powerful player who has just started to fulfill his potential after a first year in the academy in which he had a few injuries.

Ward made his Premier League debut in the opening match of the 2009/10 season against Sunderland, replacing Johan Elmander with seven minutes remaining.

He looks like a good prospect... but then so did Hutchinson

This months article in FourFourTwo indicated (to me anyway) that Hutchinson didn't really want to be here in the first place while Simon Ferry is just happy to be playing some football - possibly explaining the difference in each others form at the club?

Danny Ward is a young prospect but I haven't got the highest of hopes for him if I'm honest. I'd love him to make a Darius Henderson-esque impact at the club though.

Or even better ... a Simon Cox-esque impact ... ;)

A Charlie Austin impact.

I was going for a one month loan impact "-esque"

But go ahead run with it :)

Never heard of him.

Maybe someone can post up some of his Football Manager stats on here.

Maybe, but I still think the real explanation is that Hutchinson is fucking shit and Ferry is a star in the making.

Expect he is here as cover as the Paynter & Austin partnership at the moment looks fine

How many strikers do we need though ?

Hutchinson, Revell, Paynter, Austin, Peacock, Ward - they can't all play

understand what you're saying but look at the srikers we've got.
Hutchinson = Shit and going back soon
Revell = Shit and going back soon
Paynter = Hard Working
Austin = Diamond (so far)
Peacock = Past it but does his best
Ward = Who knows as could be a 1 month loan/trial and then an option to sign in Jan.

so come Jan if all loans go back we'll have only 3 strickers again

A bit unfair on Revell. I think he's ok, but too much like Billy Boy. Hutchinson is crap I agree. According to DW on Wilts Radio Ward was the guy that we asked for before in August. Bolton said no you can have Tope. He went back raving about STFC, so now they have let us have Ward.

He could play at number 10, in an emergency.

This could be complete bollox but one of the blokes who steward @ the CG heard Danny Ward was a last minute deal.  Apparently Theo Robinson was due to join us on a 3 month deal to get some first team experience but pulled the plug after the abuse he received.

I'm glad if that's true greedy bastard  :D

Complete bollocks. The Ward deal was agreed about a week ago when the team just happened to stop in Bolton on their way to Carlisle

Shirtliff says on the OS that Ward's only coming in on Sunday - does that mean he won't be in the squad on Sat? I thought I'd read that he was available to play in the FA Cup. Seemed like the perfect opportunity to give him a start. If not him, then who to start with Billy? Revell or Peacock? :yikes:

If he's coming in on Sunday I think it's a safe bet that he won't be in the squad tomorrow.

We'll probably revert to 4-5-1 at the taffs.

No shit!

Not sure we can afford the luxury of only one front man with a less than prolific midfield. Goals will have to come from somewhere. I suspect Revell will start. (I know...)

I pretty sure Revell can't play either (Southend don't want him cuptied), thought i'd heard somewhere Ward is just getting over a slight injury so although he's allowed to play, can't or won't be risked (not sure where i got this from now though)

Why would Southend not want him cup tied? They've basically shown him the door and done all but tell him to never come back.

It will more than likely be Hutchinson as Celtic do not participate in the FA Cup - although I'd like to see Peacock given a game

You know the rules. Get that knee jerking and decide his fate before even seeing his face.

It said on the radio, he can't play. But Southend are out of the FA Cup.

But if they're looking to sell him on in Jan and we've said we're not interested they'll not want whoever they're trying to flog him to to drive the price down because he's cup-tied. (Although he'll most likely go on a free to a side that isn't in the 3rd round)
