Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:55:43 Oh err.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:55:48 Left back?
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: RJack on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:56:05 Eh Fullback for a winger :( Confused.com
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DerbyRed on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:56:50 Yeah left back - not sure what happened to the winger and striker from the Premiership and Championship?
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: RJack on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:57:07 Unless Sheehan = Fullback JFL pushed to left midfield maybe?
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:58:22 casal on the left wing.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:58:35 This can't be the one that AF was talking about. He said on Tues day that one of the loans they were after would surprise people
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DUNSWORTHY on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:59:24 is this not a suprise?????
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 13:59:36 I've been quite happy with the way JFL has been playing recently as well. Strange signing.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Tails on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:00:26 Good we needed a left back.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DUNSWORTHY on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:05:40 on all accounts he had a good loan spell at oldham, but really puzzling ???
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:10:47 Good player, but not sure why we need another left back when we've got JFL and Kennedy.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:11:51 Good player, but not sure why we need another left back when we've got JFL and Kennedy. JFL moves to cover for CB and LB now I guess. Morrison could well be a goner in Jan if Sheehan impresses. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: bobby on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:18:54 I personally think this is the only signing we will make today
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Boeta on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:23:46 gonna play left mid i reckon.
wilson doesn't like mcnamee, so looks like sheehan could be his replacement Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:25:22 Replacement for Macca!
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: stfctownenda on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:26:05 Lescinel has a lot to learn he is still weak defensively with both his reading of the game and his positional play being poor and he is the weak link in our current 11, if you noticed Huddersfield were aiming for the long ball in behind him all the time the other night as they felt it was there best chance of success.
It will do Lescinel good to have some healthy competition in there as Callum is looking a bit weak for this level and needs to bulk up a bit as he gets pushed off the ball comfortably. Also Sheehan could be a more defense minded left winger when were trying to shut up shop away which is difficult when you have McNamee as he does no tracking back. Good signing in my opinion. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DV on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:27:29 Lescinel has a lot to learn he is still weak defensively with both his reading of the game and his positional play being poor and he is the weak link in our current 11, if you noticed Huddersfield were aiming for the long ball in behind him all the time the other night as they felt it was there best chance of success. . Yet they got fuck all success and their goal came from the centre. I'm happy with LJF in there, although maybe one will play left wing. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: bobby on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:29:26 I just feel abit deflated as earlier in the week the club was talking of a premiership and championship player coming in and we end up with Alan Sheehan and it looks like our most creative player is going out. If this happens i feel we would have a weaker squad ( especially going forward) however i hope i am proved wrong and we get somebody else in and 2bh i dont want McNamee to go.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: stfctownenda on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:30:08 Yet they got fuck all success and their goal came from the centre. I'm happy with LJF in there, although maybe one will play left wing. Disagree with fuck all success when the goal was scored by Lescinel backing off his man, yes the guy hit a screamer but if he had been closed down quicker the shot could of been blocked. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:30:19 Sheehan > McNamee
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:33:12 Sheehan > McNamee We haven't even seen Sheehan play for us yet Gaz. Fucking hell. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Colin Todd on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:33:18 I think he's been signed to play left back.
LFJ has his moments ie the 2nd goal on tues but he has also been hauled off at half time for being utterly shite this season. He's far too random for a left back. For me left back has been a problem position this season - LFJ could put in any kind of performance at any time and Kennedy whilst a decent footballer has been exposed as being weak at times. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: stfctownenda on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:34:24 I think he's been signed to play left back. Agree with all of this. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DV on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:35:04 it looks like our most creative player is going out. JPM is going to!! Disagree with fuck all success when the goal was scored by Lescinel backing off his man, yes the guy hit a screamer but if he had been closed down quicker the shot could of been blocked. Novak was playing upfront so I would have thought he'd have been one of the centre backs men, not LJFs? Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Colin Todd on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:36:49 LFJ was stood right next to him! Fair enough it may not have been his nominated man, but it was still crap defending whichever way you look at it. Still a cracking strike , mind
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:38:23 We haven't even seen Sheehan play for us yet Gaz. Fucking hell. Seen him play for Leeds and Oldham, decent player. I like most aren't wanking over McNamee because he did a couple of step overs when he got here. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:41:43 Seen him play for Leeds and Oldham, decent player. I like most aren't wanking over McNamee because he did a couple of step overs when he got here. I think we get the point though. You don't like Macca. Bit funny to say Sheehan is better already though considering we don't know if he'll be LB or LM, if he'll play shit or good. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DUNSWORTHY on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:44:03 your right, we don't know how good he'll be, but at least he's got a point to prove like douglas and lucas after leaving Dirty Leeds..
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:49:25 I think we get the point though. You don't like Macca. Bit funny to say Sheehan is better already though considering we don't know if he'll be LB or LM, if he'll play shit or good. Its like Zaaaboub all over again really though isn't it? Macca's attitude is shit thats why I don't like him. Peacock never the best player works his bollocks off, gets respect. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Cookie on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 15:37:46 But he's shit and Macca is good.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Batch on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 16:04:07 Wouldn't say macca has a Shit attitude. He can have bad games where he isn't involved in the action but i don't put that down to attitude
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: tans on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 16:06:03 Direct replacement for Yinka the Stinka after the loan move to Dagenham goes through.
On another note, I see Bushey Boy has signed for Luton on loan. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Crozzer on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 16:08:04 Sheehan will bolster the left side, but also will provide cover for Douglas in midfield. This is a very good signing. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 16:47:13 Didn't he get sent off for Leeds at the CG last season....they were better without him :)
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: suttonred on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 16:49:23 He's a good free kick taker, something we haven't had for ages.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: alanmayes on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 17:15:37 Sheehan played very well for Crewe at the CG in march. We were linked with him in august,
perhaps Leeds have only just made him available, when we saw him more as a january transfer target? Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Langers on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 18:10:22 Not too bad a signing - hasnt got the 'wow factor' but will do a decent job for us
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 18:30:12 Does us signing Sheehan till the 4th January mean anything, ie it will be permanent in January?
McNamee has gone to Norwich till the 4th, which is pretty certain to turn in to a permanent move. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Langers on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 18:37:51 It could depend on how well the loan goes for all parties involved
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 20:48:26 I like the idea of Sheehan, because he's one of those players that's solid. Wilson has been building the team around solid players, rather than players who are amazing one minute shocking the next. It fills me with confidence that we're only getting stronger.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 20:51:50 It gives us options. JFL has his moments where he forgets how to defend. Kennedy just isn't ready.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Langers on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 20:56:18 And hes got a belting free kick - could add a few more goals.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 20:58:18 And hes got a belting free kick - could add a few more goals. As I said in the Macca thread, i think Wilson sacrificed Macca's crosses for more goals from midfield. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:02:50 As I said in the Macca thread, i think Wilson sacrificed Macca's crosses for more goals from midfield. We should start playing Peacock on the left wing, we'll score loads more from midfield :) Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:03:30 We should start playing Peacock on the left wing, we'll score loads more from midfield :) Either that or bring back PARKIN to play on the wing! Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:07:18 I think you missed the point Gary.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: leefer on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:25:51 Gregg Abbott the Carlisle manager said Sheehan was premiership class after Oldham beat Carlisle...now i know thats pushing it but looks a good signing to me.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Crozzer on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:29:53 With Douglas and Lucas already here, I expect the deal will become permanent. Lack of a left back nearly relegated us last season, JFL arriving was important to our survival. Who knows, he might be in the mix for a midfield place with Macklin and O'Brien. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: DV on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:36:44 we had Jamie Vincent at left back for the second half of last season and he did a good job?!
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Crozzer on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 21:40:11 we had Jamie Vincent at left back for the second half of last season and he did a good job?! That is of course absolutely right. Jamie made a huge difference when he returned to the side. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Boeta on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 23:04:25 Its like Zaaaboub all over again really though isn't it? Macca's attitude is shit thats why I don't like him. Peacock never the best player works his bollocks off, gets respect. you're an idiot. looks like i was right, but it didn't take a brain surgeon to work it out. i know danny didn't like mcnamee, but you have to wonder about the risk he's taking about taking away our only pacey option going forward Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, November 26, 2009, 23:55:06 Alan O'brien is fit now.He is pacier and also works hard at his defensive duties
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: santasdead on Friday, November 27, 2009, 01:15:16 Alan O'brien is fit now.He is pacier and also works hard at his defensive duties But is he any good at those defensive duties? Fair enough if he is, i'l take his pace over the step overs for sure, but he's had a career of injuries - he's probably just going to be Corr all over again..yay. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Batch on Friday, November 27, 2009, 07:51:17 But is he any good ... I don't think we've seen enough of him to make a judgement on any aspect of his play. Agree his injury record ain't great so I hope we get to find out. Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Bogus Dave on Friday, November 27, 2009, 07:59:07 He must have something about him to have been picked for eire
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: LJ9 on Friday, November 27, 2009, 08:32:12 He must have something about him to have been picked for eire Yeah, he's Irish Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: nevillew on Friday, November 27, 2009, 08:47:40 Yeah, he's Irish That doesn't neccessarily follow does it ? Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Nemo on Friday, November 27, 2009, 09:09:44 As Irish as Tony Cascarino?
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, November 27, 2009, 09:16:41 As Irish as Andy Townsend?
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: herthab on Friday, November 27, 2009, 09:18:48 As Irish as St Patrick?
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, November 27, 2009, 15:27:36 As Irish as Sonic Youth.
Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: pauld on Friday, November 27, 2009, 15:33:43 As Irish as Sonic Youth. There's pretty much only leprechauns, dancing without arms and holding a grudge for centuries after that on the scale.Title: Re: Alan Sheehan Post by: Doore on Friday, November 27, 2009, 16:13:38 I though sonic was feigning being Norwegian these days? He could be our only half-Irish, half-Norwegian, all-English fan.
