Title: Weight Loss
Post by: 4D on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, 23:30:12
With a lot of threads recently discussing food, has anyone lost or been trying to lose weight recently?  ???

I think i've put on about half a stone recently as i've been eating a bit shit, so have, after tonights curry, decided i'll be eating healthy and back in the gym until Chrimbo. I lost about 6 stone a few years ago. Actually 10 years go now, seems like yesterday! :)

6 stone? How much did you put back on Bazza (if any)?

I kept it off, i had to change permanently. I ate too much and drank too much, then one day woke up and looked down at my gut, while laying on my back, and was sickened by the sight of my stomach being so much higher than my chest and especially my cock. 40" jeans were tight! :)

I hadn't weighed myself for a good year and last time i did i was 17 stone. So could've been any weight to be honest. I just lived off tins of spaghetti (300cals a can) Noodles (under 400 cals a packet), ate shredded wheat for breakfast, drank a lot of water and stopped eating all rubbish and got off the beer totally for 6 months then didn't touch beer again for years (only drank spirits and diet mixer). I pretty much lost it all in about a year.

My weight fluctuates, as i still enjoy the odd chocolate binge, curry or beer binge, but never by more than half a stone above my favoured weight, which is a few pounds under 12 stone.

I'd lose lots of weight if I had an infinite supply of cigarettes.

I've lost 30lb by cutting out the unnecessary eating that I used to do, along with getting back into weight training (hooked by this again  :flex: ). It makes getting to my seat at the back of the DRS so much easier  :)

Yeah, that's the trick. If you stop eating shit and picking, and when you do eat don't eat crap, it's a piece of piss. Especially if you exercise as well. I fucking hate exercise though.

Like Ben says though smoking is the answer, speaking of which i'm fucking knackered and have gotta be up early, so i best have a fag then hit the pit.

I lost 2 stone last year over a couple of months or so. I stopped eating shit and went to the gym every day.

The key is stopping eating shit. You just need to be strong in the supermarket and not buy anything bad, then it isn't at home for you to eat. Though you wouldn't believe the number of times I've ransacked my kitchen trying to find a chocolate bar hidden away, even though I know there isn't any.

Need to start all over again as I've put the weight back on again and I'm fat as fuck.

Don't sue me, I haven't got any money!

I've lost a stone in 6 weeks by just cutting down on what I was eating and by laying off the cider.

I smoked my last cig in April and I have piled in the weight since.

At 35 having a belly is a new thing to me and the novelty hasn't worn off though, I am starting to think about exercise though.

I've lost a bit of weight since I moved back out of my parents house just over a month ago. My mum has been indulging my poor eating habits for years and when it comes to food, I don't have much self control. Now I'm back to doing my own shopping, I can't afford to buy as much as my mum did :D so I've cut down a bit.

If I could stop stealing pick'n'mix at work though I'd be set. Oh, and I'm down nearer to 12 than 13 stone now.

I gave up smoking 3 years ago, (still on the nicotone gum though) & put on 2 stone. I've now back to the weight I was before I packed in the cigs, by eating sensibly.

I lost a stone recently, as others have said I did this by stopping eating rubbish. I have also given up drinking completely and I don't miss it one bit. Next up, cigarettes to go. I've not had one since sunday.

I miss cigarettes :(

it's harder when you're over 50 and if you can't exercise - but less shit in and a bit more walking is the answer. I work on losing a pound per week - should get rid of the 3 1/2 stone by Gold Cup day in 2011 - or maybe not

I was properly trying for the first 6 weeks or so and just been careful since then. Let myself go a bit in the last week with a works Xmas do and other stuff, but still somehow managed another 2lb this week :) A stone and a bit in total now with no exercise what-so-ever.

I used to work with a Yorkshire lass who called mixing a mouthful of drink and food 'sossing' - usually applied to tea and a biscuit. But the same can be applied to wine and cheese. Absolute heaven.

Port and Stilton.
Dry Alsace Riesling and Brie.
Claret and Cheddar.

Or even Champagne and strawberries. Complete taste bud sex.

I stick a cd on or the radio and do a set routine, it's always hard to start with but when you start to notice a difference you soon settle into the routine. Trouble is it's costing me a fortune in new clothes.

Have you got a big shed?  ???

I have lost about a thousand pounds in the last month with my good lady's Christmas shopping habits.

I don't think I will be putting it back in the bank any time soon.  :(

Tapeworm eggs can be effective for all age groups, side effects are rather troubling.

Signs Of Tapeworm Infection

Reading through the list of symptoms, you'll understand why the signs of a tapeworm infection are often misdiagnosed. You are your own best advocate for proper diagnosis and treatment.

    *   Abdominal discomfort
    *   Diarrhea
    *   Constipation
    *   Weight loss
    *   Tapeworm segments on clothes or in feces

Why does he have to be epileptic? Sounds dangerous and possible cause for an expensive court case

ye its going well, i've been keeping down to no more than a 1000cals a day (trust me i can afford to do this)  Slipped up one day where work were kind enough to get in pizza for everyone due to the snow, now im not going to turn down free pizza, so had a few slices. apart from that its going well.
drinking purely water and nothing eles, not had a cup of tea in a week.
my days consist of porridge for brekie a salad and fruit salad (both home made) for lunch, dinner varies but based around as many fresh veg as possible,  like a ratatoulis (sp) or a home made veg curry.
rice cakes/snack a jacks for a between meal snack.

trying to cut out as many carbs as possible, so no bread/potatoes/pasta etc

oh and not a drop of booze since the town vs fullham game

I'm trying to be 'quite' good by reducing quantities and by spending 30-45mins a day on the Wii Fit. Want to get fit so that I can play cricket again. Came out of retirement last year, but general lack of fitness resulted in a hellishly painful 6 months. Want to lose about about 3 stone before next season.

Wii Fit is actually really good! I used it a lot last year, although I was trying to put weight on rather than lose it, as I hate being underweight as much as some of you seem to hate being overweight! I managed to put on the best part of 3/4 of a stone before I got really ill, spent a week in bed and lost all the weight again! I'm definitely going to have to find some motivation to start exercising again...

Chubbs - I don't know whether that tactic will see you be very successful...  I've done the same and initially the weight loss is great, but eventually your metabolism will slow and the weight loss will slow.  It's permanent changes to diet/lifestyle that is the best long-term solution.

But will also just put it straight back on again when normal calorie consumption is resumed.

1000 calories a day is ridiculous, your body will hate you for it. It will seriously weaken your immune system. Come to think of it, don't you have laryngitis at the moment Chubbs?

I put on two stone last year and have continually put on weight since I gave up exercise/sport.

If I stopped drinking for two weeks I can easily lose 1/2 a stone or more, but I like drinking and find this hard to do.

I hit the unbelieable heights with weight this year and have gone up to 18 stone, luckily I'm 6'3'' so it doesn't show too much until I take my clothes off, long time since I've seen my feet or anything else below the belt without sitting down.

Have promised to get down to 16 stone before I go to Greece this year, it is going to be very hard and I'm finding my weight very depressing at the moment.

This is what I did Ralphy. After working in India last year for 3-4 months I put on a load of weight. For the last 6 months of the year I tried to eat more fruit and veg and also did a load of walking. I would usually go for a walk for about an hour a day and also did some swimming and football but not to a ridiculous level. Nowadays I tend to eat well and excercise Monday-Friday, avoiding alcohol and then treat myself at the weekend. Cutting out beer for a while was a great help as well. Most of it is down to will power. Good luck though Chubbs.

Do you eat fish? Very good for you and with some veg makes a very healthy meal.

I don't buy into these crash diets of cutting down to the calorie intake of a 5 year old child. As soon as you go back to a normal level of calories for an adult male you will put weight back on. Maybe even more than you started with.

Never skip breakfast either.

I need to lose quite a bit of weight, gone over 40 now and it stays on more easily.

I was ill over xmas and lost 11 pounds that way, not what i wanted but has helped me start my weight loss. I started properly last Sunday and have lost 1 lb in the first week just by eating healthier, couldn't do much exercise cause of the snow so quite happy with that. Just eat healthier and do some exercise and it should work.

1000 cals is easy to do, but it absolutely decimates your metabolism and it drops to almost nothing. Then when you start eating again, if you're not careful, the weight will go back on quicker than it ever has, simply because your metabolism is barely functioning.

Simplest way to lose weight:

Avoid shit food and alcohol
Don't mix carbs and proteins within the same meal/day
Don't eat carbs after 5pm
Stay below 25grams of fat a day
Drink water constantly - a pint or so an hour
Always eat breakfast
Don't over eat
Don't eat within the 2 hours before going to sleep
Never, ever get hungry
