Really, I thought COD 4 was superb. Cod 5 not as good but the development of COD 6 was by Infinity Ward, so I'm hopeful. The only thing I wonder is whether it will be different enough from COD 4 to keep me entertained.

COD4 was very good and MW2 is supposed to be so much better.

This is going to be the game of the year. COD 4 was a great game and this is the follow up of the original Modern Warefare from Activision. Midnight release in all supermarkets i think.

fucking loving it, have had to have a few break from fear of putting my controler through the tv, but fustrating at times.

sweet. Might have to find somewhere that to sneak round a mates house to play that then.

I love Fallout1/2 because I can go around punching children in the groin, or shooting them, or bashing them with a crowbar, or bashing them with a mallet, all in the groin, or the face, or any of their limbs.

Well I love it anyway, but that sort of freedom is a bonus. It even tags you as a child murderer for the entire game if you do it. I haven't played fallout 3, so I can't comment on whether it gives you the same freedoms.

Oooh, side note, Fallout 2 also lets you set your character's intelligence so low that you can't actually communicate with any other characters. They made the effort to translate all the written game dialog into grunts just for this eventuality, there's even a side-quest that is only available when you grunt with another retard, which is nice because you can't do many of the other quests. Of course with all the experience points not in Int you can throw in Luck and Perception. Wander around like a naked nuclear waste retard throwing rocks in peoples eyes. Fucking brilliant.

Deus Ex (greatest game ever) also gives you chances to shoot children in the face. The first level is great fun, multiple ways to break into the statue of liberty, complete freedom in the level. When you finish the mission and go back to the UNATCO base (handily round the corner), you even get told off by your boss if you wander into the ladies toilets. Add that with following a higher up boss and watching him torture some 'terrorists' is ahead of it's time in optional extras.

Oh yeah, child shooting. At the start of the second missiony bit, some child comes up for you and says he'll give you the backdoor code if you give him some food. He's hungry, America is in melt down. If you have a candy bar then he'll give you the key to the back of the terrorists base. I like to shoot him in the face. Interfering with UN police work is wrong.

Nothing comes close to these games.

Nope. Or Fallout 3. In fact, I haven't played many serious games this decade.

Not out of just ignoring it, I've been skint and haven't really had the chance to get the technology required.

I've heard that Bioshock in a half-arsed streamlined successor to System Shock 1 and 2. It's where they got the inspiration and name from.

I love video games though, even if I am a generation behind. It at least means I get to catch up on things that I'd have missed otherwise.

I think it's shameful that games don't get more recognition as an art form. Video games sell massively, but you get very little mainstream media coverage in the same way that you do with films and television, and what you do get tends to be pretty ill-informed.

From what I have played of recent games is that they seem to have split into 2 genres. I call them "Story Games!" and "Toys". Toys is stuff like Wii Sports, all those Wii mini games, those flash puzzle games which are ace to play, things like that. By Story Games I mean stuff like your HalfLife2's, your CODs, stuff like that.

Toy Games have seen a brilliant improvement: Wii sports is brilliant, stuff like Brain Training is ace, all those mini-game things which are fun to pick up with a friend, they're all much more fun than the similar options we had a decade ago. Generally thumbs up.

What I call "Story Games" hit a dead wall about a decade ago. You have Quake 2 and Half-Life (even Quake, and going back old Snes rpg's and Text Adventures and stuff) both of which have impressive set pieces to invite the player into thinking it's awesome. Half-Life is the best example with the damn bit and the shooting down of the helicopter and all the marines coming in. But whatever. Story Games seem to have gone more and more in the direction of just overly impressive set pieces. It's like every game is a Michael Bay film.

Of course, I'm being a bit unfair. Lot's of "Story Games" have helped improve the idea of the easy pick it up and play with your mates "Toy Games" with stuff like multiplayer, but again that's something which hasn't really improved over the last decade.

There have been exceptions. Some better than others. Things like your Baldurs Gates, Fallout1/2, through to the System Shocks, Thief(s) and Deus Ex, and on to the Morrowind, Oblivian and Fallout 3's. The problem is that the illusion of you having any meaningful "interactivity" through the actions in the game have fallen with each generation. And it wasn't that great to start of with.

That's not to say that railed "play this story" games can't be good, but maybe they should be a bit more interesting than the same old hero/ hero soldier/ hero secret agent / hero hero.

I've ranted a bit here. The video game market has grown very quickly, and gone from a bedroom industry (at least in Britain, Rockstar used to be DMA who made Lemmings), to having budgets which rival the film industry. Whilst in the film industry people are willing to risk money just to make interesting/indie films, even if they won't be popular. All you're left with in the video game market is everybody wanting to be a block buster. Even when they're pretending not to want to.

Sorry, that's a bit of a mess, and I haven't really approached on lots of other subjects like the revival of indie games. Maybe another time.

I haven't really played it too much tbh. Got through thr airport mission fairly easily though. Don't see what all the fuss is about. It's no worse than GTA. After all the game is an 18 and we all know it consists of little other than running around and shooting people.

I started WAW on Veteran after finishing it on Regular and thought "can't be too challenging". Well it took me about a while to get the first mission done and that was hard enough. I gave up on the idea after that. I've started this one on regular but will probably give hardened or veteran a go when i finish it. I'm to engrosed in the multiplayer at the moment though to be fair.

Just completed campaign and what a game, going online now - that should be fun!  :D

It is so they get more people to visit the store over the period of 4/5 days.  Tescos do the same, I know because my son works there!  The special deals that are advertised in the press are staggered and held back so that they are sure to have stock of the items up until the date advertised.  Otherwise there statement of £26 until Friday would look pretty weak if they were sold out on the Tuesday.  If every customer that visits the store and gets told it's out of stock spends a pound it goes towards the discounted price they are selling it at!

I'm sure things have improved since I used to trounce my mates at Time Splitters, but remember to circle strafe, always be moving even when you are shooting things, from side to side, towards and away from your target is pointless. Learn where the heavy flow areas of maps are, respawn points and where weapon pickups are. Know where people are going to be and you can kill them.

I haven't really played many modern console games, but I'm sure most of that is still good advice.

i cant even get an online game going on xbox live

the biggest problem i found making the transition to online mw2 is the auto lock on enemies, (i.e when you aim in the main game aslong as your aim is close to the enemy it will auto lock to it) this is not the case in online and i keep forgetting.

keep playing, some of the levels are a bit hit and miss, and ive seen poeple will level22 come last, a lot is just luck.

im playing on veteran at the moment, and i swear im gonna need a new pad.

I had my best round last night. 32 kills with 18 deaths and an 11 kill streak. I'm getting there slowly but it's kind of hard when some little Amercian kid gets 63 kills and 14 deaths. Insane. K/D ratio is 0.82 which is alright I guess but it would be nice to get it up to 1.00 if i can.

I'm bored. Might go buy a 360 now - I've held off for years but finally I have to - finally with the Elite down to £199 with COD and Forza, it can be justified.

Yeah that will happen unless you go into a mercenary team deathmatch. It's mostly meant for team tactical games.

I've still got it. I go with CP at 4, Preditor missile at 5 and chopper at 7. Chopper is great and if you get it on the right map it does all the work for you.

Yup. You can get a nuke with a 25 kill streak but that has to be unlocked at a certain rank. Basically someone has played it way too much already.

Probably. It's pretty much impossible to get a 25 kill streak unless you camp and don't get found.

I think they've made this one so there are very limmited places to camp out, i've found one or two but nothing fool proof.

Yup, bring up the round score (on the xbox controller its the 'back' button, I assume on the piss3 its the 'select' button), highlight the guys talking and press mute ('a' on the xbox controller)

I GOT MY FIRST FUCKING NUKE TODAY....

Never thought the day would come, ive been unlucky about 10 times, with 23 24 kill streaks, or not actually having the Nuke kill streak unlocked, but today...is a good day.

Nice one. I gave up trying to get one ages ago.

I gave up not only on trying to get a nuke but playing the game full stop. Too boring. Too many dicks online using glitches and whatever else. Rubbish.
