Title: Billy Paynter
Post by: paul_stfc on Sunday, October 25, 2009, 19:22:25
He was our second best player last year and is now our 6th choice striker at the moment. Last year  he scored important goals and probably assisted 20 of coxy's goals. I personallly would have him as our 1st choice striker and maybe have Austin playing up top with him.

I am amazed Tope, Peacock and Hutchinson all got the nod before him. What does everyone else think?

You're also far from the first to start duplicate threads either, so no worries

Tbqfh, i would tend to agree. However at the games i've been at this season he's been no better than anyone else. I was at the millwall game wanting him to come on 'cause i thought he'd at least bully the defenders and he did sod all. He's a handfull when on form and confidence is up but when it isn't he's no better than peacock in my honest opinion.

I think he misses cox too

He does miss Cox. What's strange is that when he played as a lone striker he was a lot better. He did look tired in a few of the games he came on as a sub but surely he's back to full fitness and ready to go after being rested for a fair few games now?

Travelling with the reserves to Reading tomorrow.

I guess this could mean two things. Wilson plans to play him and wanted him to get in some game time, maybe a goal for confidence before saturday....or....Wilson doesnt want to risk Lee Peacock in a reserve game

Austen and Paynter upfront for Tranny? Let's start some speculation!

I dont why that bothers me so much, I think I have issues.

I thought O'Brien had done his hamstring. Billy doesn't run fast enough to do his !!
