Myself and my (much) superior half want to get ourselve a kitten.  What is the best way to do this?  We'd like to take in an unwanted kitten rather than pay for one but we are not sure who to contact.  Any suggetions TEF?

Buy a German Sheppard and let it off its lead for 10 mins.

Try your local vets, they can advise on things like this.
They can tell you the best places to go.
Also they have boards up with people who are selling/giving away kittens.

Just make sure they are toilet trained before you get them, it makes your life a whole lot easier!

Cats Protection League do rehoming and have a shelter near Shrivvy IIRC

Places like RSPC etc are very strict - they said our road was too busy (I live in a village) and as we both work full time they refused us! :(

A dog is great company. You can take them anywhere. A cat is a pet for people who don't really want a pet, all you have to do is give it food and access to a place to shit and it's happy.

Cats are ace. My two are playful and affectionate.
Plus, I don't have to take them for walks every day or pick their shit up either.

Tigers, Leapords (sp) and Panthers are OK though. Especially Panthers as they are the coolest. Lions can fuck-off though because they kill Cheetah cubs, the cunts that they are.

Cats are fucking quality! I used to do assault courses with my cat using ham. Ham is like crack to cats and you can make them jump about and climb stuff to get it. Literally hours of fun.

His best move was jumping about 5 feet from the TV to the fireplace. He had to land on a surface that was about 6 inches across. He would land all 4 feet at the same time with his head stretched right up against the wall.

I managed to get him to climb the curtains a few times, but he didn't really like it. Sadly I could never get him to climb the back of my spiral staircase.

Spot on. We used to get loads of birds in our garden, then a family with 9 cats move in and three are no birds left.

Still, we got a whippet 2 months ago and at least the cats don't dare shit in our garden any more.

Don't go near the RSPCA, as JFW says they are complete Nazis.

Better to buy one privately then you can grill/charbroil/stir fry them without hindrance.
