When doing those fan interviews for the programme, everyone has been predicting greer to be player of the year. However, JPM or Douglas would top the list at the mo, wouldn't they? Amankwaah?

Cuthbert has been pretty solid since replacing Morrison, but any of your suggestions have been stand -outs as well. Possibly Lucas as well.

Cuthbert has also done well. Its a difficult one. As a defensive unit we've improved so much, but also the midfield have been excellent.

McGovern has impressed me the most this year so far just because he's been the most consistent and it's a remarkable turn around. Rewind back a few months and I would not have been disappointed to see him leave so a remarkable turn around for him. I'm still waiting for the good spell to fizzle out but it doesn't look like it will at the moment so I'm very pleased.

Regardless of the confidence etc that Wilson may have given him he'd not have achieved this unless he put in a lot of hard work. It looks like all the lads are giving it a good go this year which definitely shows in most of our performances.

Remarkable. Turnaround. Say it in the mirror five times and McGovern will appear.

mcgovern pleases most because i always thought that he was a decent player.
now he's proving it.
amankwaa too, as i wrote him off after a few games last season.he improved in form and has continued it into this season.

For consistency it has to be Amankwaah and McGovern. Cuthbert's been good but only really had one stand out game at Wolves IMO.

Has to be Mcgovern, run close by Amankwaah though.  always thought JPM lacked pace and desire previously, has to be one of the best passers in the team and has gave it his all this season, also chipping in with a few goals - long may this continue.
Just goes to show that the good results are clearly having a positive impact on the players this season.

Lucas, Cuthbert, JLF (ok he's gone off the boil a bit recently but after his first 45 minutes against scunny last year did anyone expect him to even play for us again?) Kennedy, JPM, Douglas & Amankwaah.

Cuthbert for me. ot spectacular but fairy solid. When we sold Ifil I was pretty annoyed that we's just be left with Morrison and no cover. Turns out Cuthbert has been better/more consistent than both.

JPM, Ferry and Douglas look pretty decent in midfield too. Will be interesting to see how they do if/when the pitches carve up a bit.

I'd like to see you call Cuthbert a fairy and see what happens.

It's hard to single out any player because like many have said, there's been suprising improvement in many players. JPM's been good, along with Cuthbert, Ferry, Douglas, Lucas and Manky. But then i think they only get a mention, because the others are living up to expectations, Greer, McNamee for instance, who have also been good, but we kind of expected that.

Having spoken to a Leeds based friend I’m surprised how well Lucas is doing.  Apparently he was consistently dodgy except in the games he played Town last season so it’s good to see him come good and cement himself.

Aside from that I think Kevin has to be one of the nice surprises of the season. 

Lucas, Cuthbert, Douglas and Ferry, and a little lesser extent Manks.

from the two games i've seen, amankwaah and jpm have to be the ones deserving of the most credit given how much they've improved from last season.

i also really like lecsinel, even if he's raw and unpolished.

For me Douglas..his defensive qualitys have been outstanding..the times hes got back to block shots and cover when weve been caught has been brilliant..in fact Ferry as well was often in the right back position on saturday covering.....in fact you could say probably his only blip was getting in Lucas,s way for Brentfords  second.
Think Cuthbert could go all the way...dont know how we managed to get him...the first half at Exeter he was brilliant with his positioning on crosses....so for me Douglas...just.

If this is the level of football knowledge of some of our fans then no wonder they boo players. For me Douglas has been our best player so far he is the reason that JPM is being able to play so freely and that the defense are not under so much pressure.

Enough said Lambourn.....things dont suprise me in footy so in footy related topics dont really get wound up.....remember someone slating Cox for being lazy and a Leeds fan i know tells me that Beckford gets abuse from some sections there....JPM has impressed as well....on the other side though and ide never slag but Mcmanee has dissapointed me this year so far.

Great to be able to have this debate. There have been a few recent seasons when no-one has really impressed in the team and we'd all have been hard pressed to make a pick. I agree with most of the poster's choices: JPM, Kev, Douglas, Lucas but the one who I'd pick just because he clearly relishes playing football is Ferry.  I look forward to seeing him pull on the blue shirt of Scotland & I shall remember his time at the County Ground with satisfaction. I really think he can go all the way.  When he made his first appearance I thought he looked a bit small but for someone his size he can tackle hard, he reads a game well, he can pass accurately, supports his teams mates & just needs a goal to be the (almost) finished article. Very good little player & delighted that he's come on loan to Swindon.  Well done, DW

Yes...when he does create which is no ware near enough...Ferry creates more in my opinion.

Ferry reminds me of Brian Howard...but his defensive side is alot better.

Not knocking him Dave...hes a very important player for us,just i feel hes got alot more to give and dosnt play two good matches....unlike the Cuthberts,Greer and Douglas etc............

I think Ferry and Cuthbert could both be future internationals. Theyve been excellent this season. As has Amankwaah. Douglas makes us so difficult to beat, very good. McGovern, Greer, Lucas, very good. I think Macklin has been underrated and underused.

I think Paynter will come back strong in the next few months.

Top assister in the league is Charltons Jonjo Shelvey with 5. Followed by Jordan Rhodes, Lloyd Sam, Simon Lappin, Richard Lambert, John Nutter and Jon-Paul McGovern on 4.

Thats just assists for goals though,McNamee has created more chances I would say.

I don't think Amakwaah has been any better than he was at the back end of last season, which is no bad thing, I'm just not as surprised that he is playing well compared to the likes of McGovern who rarely shone last year.

Interestingly Amankwaah didn't play well against Wycombe despite getting the goal. That shows what an important player he is for us.

I go along with everyone here. Amankwaah I'm not surprised of because he's just continued from where he left off in the second half of last season. JPM has been a revellation in CM. Douglas is what we've been after for years, someone who tidies the crap from in front of the back four with calmness and efficiency, and with Greer and Cuthbert has been a top partnership at the back.Ferry has been an excellent addition, and hopefully we can extend his loan to the rest of the season.

That Shelvey at Charlton looks really good.

I've only seen the home games but its Amankwanah for me. Douglas and Lucas have been good as has Cuthbert. Despite my absolute loathnig of him last season JPM has been superb and pretty consistent.
The good thing is that there are a number of players who are in the running.

I can only echo what has already been said by the majority.

It's so good to have a number of players who have impressed, instead of just the 1 or 2 we have only had in recent seasons.

Amankwaah is a class act, and the fact he doesn't stop smiling makes me happy. Douglas is an integral part to the team, and is EXACTLY the type of player we have been missing. Ferry is immense also, as are the likes of Cuthbert, Greer and Lucas. However, the most impressive has to be JPM, surely? I loooathed him throughout much of last season and the previous. Let's not sugar coat it, he was awful.....But this season he's been a totally different player. 90% of people on here hated seeing him in the centre of midfield last season, let alone in the starting 11, but with the defensive abilities of Douglas and the general dogs body in Ferry, JPM has had the freedom to roam the field. He's like a new signing altogether! Well done JPM for proving the majority of us wrong. keep it up  :thumb:

It's got to be Ferry for me, followed by Cuthbert. I expected Douglas and Lucas to be half decent and they haven't done anything out of the ordinary for me, same applies to JPM and Amankwaah - good but only what I'd expect.

Ferry is the controlling / creative midfielder we've been missing and given a year or two could be immense.

Cuthbert looks a fantastic signing, I reckon Revell could be the business too. He has the work ethic Wilson likes and now he has stuck a couple in the net I can see his confidence soaring. Get behind revell and i can see him sticking in 20+ this season. Yes I know his past record doesnt suggest Im right here but with a manager that believes in him i think we could get the best out of him.

Ferry Cuthbert and Douglas out the new bunch and to be fair i have been very impressed with Callum Kennedy

Its easier to say who hasnt impressed!

Timlin has disapointed me and I think Lescinal has a hell of a lot to learn and Kennedy is a much better option at left back. Paynter's work ethic is still top notch but he is lacking in front of goal. Hutchinson needs more playing time and he will come good a bit like what happened to tope.

In fact I would have Paynter behind Revell, Tope and Hutchinson.

Tope is obviously not poo is he. He is improving every game as he gets experience, most importantly he adds something totally different up front. He can do the unexpected and has the speed and skill to carry it off. Someone likened him to Asprilla and i can see where they were coming from. A few more months under wilson and shirtliff he will be the absolute bollocks at this level.

I like Tope,he offers something totally different and scares the shit out of other teams.

When he first joined you could see he didn't have the footballing brain for this level and he lost the ball quite a bit. He reminded me of a worse Christian Roberts in that he scared the shit out of defenders but he would maybe only produce something once or twice in a match. I didn't rate him as he looked far too clumsy to improve to the required level.

Credit where it's due, he is improving and is beginning to show a bit more footballing nouse. Unlike Robson-Kanu I think he's giving it his all whereas Kanu was more adapted/better for our level but his heart wasn't quite in it. With a fair bit of work Tope will be at least twice the player of HRK.

Obedeyi was my man of the match against Wycombe. If he continues to improve I will begin to rate him a bit more.

Regarding Tope, Ive rarely seen a new player improve so quickly.

First team football was obviously exactly what he needed. Maybe he was ill for the 1st 2 games?

Both JPM and Timlin had big problems with their consistency. Theyve both had a lot more competition this season. McGovern has upped his game and stayed in the team, Timlin had a couple of average games and got replaced by Ferry. Its great watching a team where you know they need to play well to stay in it.
