I think the financial decline within Non League football is a shame but inevitable. I've been to very few NL matches of late but it's something I genuinely like doing.

However, I won't crusade for other clubs. Call me bitter but we were close to the brink once (or twice) and nobody really gave a damn.

I'm the same. We've been close to going out of business and then there was the relegation for the "financial irregularities" and no other club (or their fans) gave a flying fuck. So why should I when it's their turn?

They've brought it upon themselves (the same as we did) through poor financial management and now its time for them to pay the price. In a way I'm glad some clubs are going to the wall or getting points deductions which get them relegated, hopefully it will send a clear message to every club to get their house in order.

I 100% disagree with the "they didn't care when we were fucked attitude". Surely we're better as fans if we do give a fuck? Especially as we know how close we came to losing our club.

They're have been a lot of non-league clubs hitting the wall without anybody batting as much as an eyelid. Halifax and Scarborough spring to mind, and they've been league clubs in the last decade or so.

Actual league clubs seem to cling on to survival at the moment, so it's not surprising that other clubs don't pay too much attention to it. Another club in administration has been pretty common over that last decade, and before.

Knowing what it was like coming so close I think we should be supportive of other clubs, not just say "Ha! where were you when we were fucked?". At the least it's a way to show we're better football fans.

I'm not saying "Ha!" to any football club going under. But as a football fan what more can I do other than put a couple of quid in a charity bucket? Which is something I've done and always will but really in truth it's nothing more than a token gesture isn't it? Hyde would go under but I can hold my head up and say "phew at least I tried to help - that makes me a better football fan".

A lot of people type all this "isn't this sad, we should all be ashamed with ourselves as football fans" stuff and half the time they don't know this is happening until the BBC do a tiny article about it.

It's a damn shame that these clubs can't cope, whether that is their fault or not but Non-League football clubs were having to fold or merge long before the Premier League arrived and it'll continue once all the current excuses end and new ones emerge. Football is a business and sometimes even the most popular sport in this nation can attract fans/funding to keep the small clubs afloat.
