not as yet but i'd always loved the Pro EVo series until i played Fifa 09 on the PS3.

Purchased ProEvo 9 (luckily second hand) and played it once and packed it away. Garbage.

loved fifa international soccer (94?) purley as you could run away from the ref whne he was doing to give you a red, hours of fun and if you positioned your striker just right infront of the opositions keeper as he was going to kick it, he would kick it into you and you scored

Fifa wins it again this year for me. PES just doesn't improve at all these days. PES 10 just seems the same as PES08 but granted it's a lot better than last years pathetic offering from Konami. I'll probably get both but will probably play Fifa more.

My PS2 has finally given in, so I am seriously considering spending a big wack of my tuition fee loan (when it eventually comes through) on a flat tv and ps3 to play PES on. I need some compensation for living at home.

All about FIFA these days, Pro Evo used to piss on it before, but if FIFA 10 is better than 09 than its a winner.

I've always been a pro evo man myself - I've always found fifa to be too arcade-y, if that makes sense.  The last one I played (not the latest one, the one before that) I found the shooting very strange.  Pro evo has always felt more representative of a football match.

I'll give the new ones both a go though - has fifa become more realistic?

Yeah i'd give Fifa a try, always been a pro evo fan, but actually thought Fifa09 was decent.

I bought both 09 versions and played FIFA for about 3 hours and then never picked it up again. I still regularly play BAL mode (3 different careers) and also 2 different master leagues.

Pro Evo is still the best.

but tFifa is just amazing. control, running, scoring etc etc is first class. compared to pro evo the gameplay is much more realistic and hasn't that plastic feel about it anymore.

pro evo 09 i have played for an hour and it's not been payed since. was dissapointed as i used to love that game.

Just had another go on the Fifa 10 demo. It's bloody fantastic.

Best way I can describe the gameplay is fluid and flowing.

Yes. Online clubs which was quality on 09 but apparently it's not as good this time.

Anyone done the create your face thing on the demo. It's well scary.

No do you just go into one of the options? I've not really looked at how to do it tbh.

You do it through the EA sports website by uploading a face-on and profile photo of your face, it does some computer jiggery and generated a 3D gameface.

Just tried it and it's not working for me for some reason. Ah well. I might just create one from the templates.

The PS3 can connect wirelessy or via a cable to the router. I have mine through a cable as its easier for me.

Also, it is free to go online, no subscription or anything like that, its top notch. Better than that xbox live shite.

That's probably why I lost my first game then. It pulls all your achievements/trophies from Fifa 09 and ranks your game level from that. Sadly I had 900 gamescore on the last one so i'm on World Class. Struggling to get to grips with the defending on it at the moment.

PS3 updates are long and in general very annoying. The very same updates for the 360 seem to go really quickly. Not sure why.

I have Fifa 09 for Wii, not sure if anything has changed for 10.

It has two modes, a 'normal' mode which plays much like the 360/PS3 versions with worse graphics and a 'party' mode which is considerably simplified, where players move semi-autonomously and all you really need to do is click a button to pass and swing to shoot. Simple, but quite fun all the same.

Wii isnt really the ideal console for football games. The main reason I didnt get Fifa 09 was because the be a player mode was completely missed out on the Wii version.

I expect it is again this year, unless someone can tell me any different.

I was playing some German kid last night who had something like 10,000+ experience points, so obviously a bit of a Fifa lover (I only have about 1,700). Managed to take it to extra time and scored in the dying seconds to win 3-2. Final whistle went and he disconnected :( I hate sore losers.

He was obviously hoping to take to penalties Sam, because you know what the Germans record on penalties are !!

shooting is easier and the swerve on the ball seems to be more realistic.

How does the game differentiate between Swindon and say Real Mardrid?

If you play as Swindon, do you only play against players with teams of similar abilities, or are teams pretty much the same and improved by the quality of the boss with the controller?

With online play you can choose to filter opponents i.e. filter out those playing as 5 star teams, opponents with certain skill levels etc. etc.

But if you don't filter and just went on as Swindon vs. Real Madrid then you'd probably get well and truly stuffed. Better players have better pace, more accurate passing, more accurate shooting and better skills e.g. 2 star players (Swindon players) can only do a basic step over and fake shot, but your 5 star players (Messi, Rooney etc.) can do rainbow flicks (not that I know what that is) and all sorts of other tricks.

I see. Does playing as crapper teams effect your enjoyment, or is it all ace? I've got PES 09 coming with my PS3 and i'm gonna learn to play that because, like seemingly most on here, me and football games do not go. I must learn football games because defeat doesn't come well to me and leaves teeth marks in controllers and various broken objects strewn about.

I was challenged to a Swindon vs. Gillingham game last night from some pikey cunt who simply sent me a message saying "5-0". I can't remember how the game went, it was pretty drab, but I did reply to his message with something along the lines of "Wow, they have internet in caravans now?". I didn't get a reply.

I also played as Swindon vs. Leeds, was drawing 1-1 and then scored 2 in extra time to make it 3-1 and he disconnected. I'm getting quite annoyed with people disconnecting after you've beaten them.

I never quit. Don't see the point. My online record has turned rather sour after a good run. I've lost 4 in a row and it doesn't matter what I do I simply can't win. I hate the people that use the super fast double-player pressing that means you just can't play the ball to your strikers feet.

You'd think they'd do something about that like they do in poker rooms. Years ago you could disconnect when it a hand and the software treated you as all in. So you essentially got to play the full hand without committing another penny. Some don't allow it at all now and some give you 2.

They should do that. The first time it happens fair enough. Second time, they let it go also. From then on the games carry on whether they are there or not, allowing you to trounce them.

I got a 2 - 2 draw and lost on pens but 1 of my concedes was a dodgy keeper pass out cos I was trying to speed the game up.I dont seem able to score now and its winding me up :(

There have been problems with the EA servers on both PS3 and Xbox. People have been disconnected for no reason at various points in games. It was alright for me yesterday and does seem to be improving.

Retail is about £200. A lot of people get PS3's free with mobile phone deals and then flog them on eBay, undercutting the retail price. Win win :)

I remember when I first started playing Pro Evo online a couple of years ago - thought I was brilliant because I could comfortably tuck the computer on the hardest level.

However was soon put in my place after my first 3 Xbox live games when I believe the scores were 5-0, 7-0 and 5-1!!

I got a PS3 the other week, always been a fan of PES - along with FM its pretty much the only computer game I've played in the past 15 years - so got that with it.

Turns out its utter gash. Swapped it for FIFA which is better - neither are that good though, both lack any fluidity and are perfect proof that developers are still getting to grips with the console.

COD is pretty amazing though. Assassins Creed next I think.

I'm getting a bit better at FIFA, still can't beat my mates though (think I've gotten too used to a rather predictable AI). Got Swindon into the Championship though :)
