Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 19:47:51 It's currently 29-25 after 9 heats.
Unfortunately Lindgren & Woffinden are both still unbeaten Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 19:48:44 This is the link I use

Unfortunately Lindgren & Woffinden are both still unbeaten Adams just beat Woffinden in heat 10 (32-28). Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 19:56:30 pikey motorsport
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 19:58:33 2-4 in heat 11.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:00:47 If we win tonight, what happens in the play-offs? We get the choice of who to face in the semi-finals (Coventry or Lakeside) and start with +8 points. If we come second in the league, Wolves would get choice of opponents, and we ride against the other team with a +4 point start Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:01:25 2-4 in heat 11. 5-1 in Heat 12 (39-33) Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:01:54 pikey motorsport No, that's stock car racing :D Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:02:44 Risager and Zager are immense at the moment.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:05:37 Risager and Zager are immense at the moment. But Lindgren has won his last 8 races against the Robins, 5 at Wolves & now 3 at the Abbey. Just hope that both/either Adams & Zagar can beat him tonight in one of his last two rides. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:16:33 What sort of crowds to they get at the speedway? In all the years I lived in Swindon, I wasn't tempted to go once. Went to the dogs once, but never the speedway.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Nemo on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:17:37 Watched us destroy Poole the other day on the box, been a few times but it's actually suprisingly pricey. I think they get a fair crowd though.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:18:26 What sort of crowds to they get at the speedway? In all the years I lived in Swindon, I wasn't tempted to go once. Went to the dogs once, but never the speedway. Think they had about 2500-3000 on Monday night against Poole. Will almost certainly be more there tonight. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:24:23 Well, they've won & so finish top of the league.
It's 46-38 after 14 heats so they can't be beaten. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Batch on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:29:05 Excellent.
Pick of opponent for the playoffs then! Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:33:18 Excellent. Pick of opponent for the playoffs then! Yep, do we go for Lakeside, (who we've lost to 5 times already this season, albeit with extenuating circumstances), or Coventry, who seem to be the team on the up. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:37:07 Finished off with a 5-1
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 20:43:31 Top stuff. As long as we don't pick Lakeside (not sure if they're in the final 4 but they're the only team to beat us at home this season). Was going to go actually but only ever been once and we lost so thought i'd stay away.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: michael on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 21:21:27 I reckon there was about 3,500 there tonight.
And it was ruddy freezing. Could take on Lakeside now with +8 points, or risk facing them in the final with no headstart. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 21:23:38 I reckon there was about 3,500 there tonight. And it was ruddy freezing. Could take on Lakeside now with +8 points, or risk facing them in the final with no headstart. Oh right. Think we should take the 8 point lead then. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Anteater on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 22:49:56 It's not definate yet but if Coventry and Lakeside are the choice I'd go for Coventry and let Wolves worry about Lakeside. It'll be us and Wolves in the final anyway I reckon.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, September 4, 2009, 09:10:52 Can we save the +8 point start?
I would ride against Coventry at home in the semi and then use the +8 point start in the final. Can we do this? Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: reeves4england on Friday, September 4, 2009, 09:53:26 I know nothing about speedway, but I'm 99% sure the answer will be no.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Anteater on Friday, September 4, 2009, 11:09:57 I know nothing about speedway, but I'm 99% sure the answer will be no. Very perceptive for someone that knows nothing about speedway, the answer is indeed no ! 8 point lead is for the semi final only, the final starts all square. If Swindon progress (which they will barring any disasters) then they will be at home in the second leg of the final, not much of an advantage but at least finish at home. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: donkey on Friday, September 4, 2009, 15:21:15 If Horse Racing be the sport of Kings, drag racing is the sport of queens.
I apologise. We never seem to win the league but Wolves in the final will be very tricky over 2 legs. Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: 4D on Friday, September 4, 2009, 21:56:38 I went to my first speedway "meet?" a few months ago against Coventry Bees. Swindon won quite comfortably......I enjoyed it.
Title: Re: Swindon v Wolves Speedway Post by: Bob's Orange on Saturday, September 5, 2009, 09:03:31 I like going to speedway, its quite pricy these days but is a good evening out. Even better now that Swindon have a very good speedway side.
