When did it all begin?
I seem to remember we had a different Robin before RR, but I'm struggling to remember what it looked like. Has anyone got any pics / links? We had the "moonraker" at Wembley.....that's about all I remember  ???

Does anyone know why Bristol City had the 3 pigs as mascots?

Before Rockin Robin it was Funky Fledgling. He makes the odd appearance now and again.

Yeah, Funky Fledgling was the original mascot going back to 1783, actually older than the football club. He's got a life expectancy of 1500 years, and I believe they got Bill Oddie to calculate when he would 'grow up' into Rockin Robin and held a party for him that year.

No, there was a "different looking" (quite large) Robin in the early 90's.....I think  ???

mascots are about as important as david byrne currently is at stfc.

Rockin' Robin looked after my little un when he went over to the north stand for the beach party thingy at half time on Saturday.

My lad loved it because Rockin' was apparently "pushing me along on my body board and then tipped (me) off"!  So there is a purpose to mascots that I hadn't seen before!

I was quite grateful too as I was starting to panic as the players came on and he wasn't back.

I think they had a sponsorship with a local company and they were represented by the pigs but I don't remember waht company it was

Im not being rude but would men actually pay for that??? - it was the creatures they had parading around outside in those horrible plastic soled stripper shoes and pink hotpants that made me laugh - being faced with an acre wide thigh on my way into football is not what I need

After having a couple of pints before the game they looked OK from the Town End, mind you at that distance after the beer so did Lucas !
Are the kids coming in each week really the Mascots ? My eldest Bruv was the epitomy of lucky mascots when he appeared as one of a couple of mascots for the home game V Scum in 1997 (I think) when we stuffed them 4-1.....happy days !  :)

The 3 pigs were associated with a double glazing company. The old Rockin' Robin went to Cheltenham Town in the late 90's, and was re-named 'Whaddney'!!

i thought they were some hen party, bloody hell thats a bit risque by the club.

I dont think the club were aware they were all going to turn up with no panty girdles on!!!

I suppose technically they was 'smartly' dressed so stfc could not complain and as they had sponsored the match as well - but to be fair thoey could have used younger and better looking models though

Rockin Robin's finest moment, for me, was before the Oxford v Swindon cup game... there was an Oxford v Swindon race around the pitch where the baton was a football.

When the Oxford ball came near Rockin Robin he punched it off the pitch causing them to fall miles behind and eventually lose.

Strangely I don't remember much about the game, it must have been dull.

Coldseal who used the 3 little pigs jingle on their radio ads and spent a small fortune advertising on GWR stations.  They were attacked savagely before the game against Wolves by the Wolf mascot of Wolves, which made the national news at the time and I think they all got charged (clubs) for bringing the game into disrepute.

Funniest Rockin Robin moment for me was at Bristol City in 2001.... RR and the City mascot had been having a penalty shoot out or something at the other end which somehow ended up with RR rolling around on the floor as if injured.   The City mascot got up, and started to bring the ball all the way up the field to score in the end that the Town fans were. RR was still playing injured at the other end when he spotted the City mascot thirty yards or so from goal, and started to sprint full pelt to stop him from scoring.... kicking off those big comedy boots he used to wear, and running in his socks.

The City mascot had no idea he was coming, and was bigging it up in front of the Town fans.... RR made it back literally just as he was about to tap it in, and sent him flying with a superb slide tackle about two yards from goal.  It was bloody funny at the time, but you probably had to be there!

Surely Rockin's 'finest' moment came when he slid tackled Father Christmas into row Z and was forced to apologise for upsetting little kids in the next match program

I disticntly remember rockin riding around on some people dressed as a pantomine Horse one Christmas too - that was so very full of wrong

i floored him when i won fan of the year and he said in a low menancing voice so no one else could hear "do that again and i will fucking kill you"
