Title: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 12:55:02 Its looking like a really bad situation, doesn't appear to be any way back except for three wins on the bounce, if Luggy has that chance. The Plymouth tactics appear to be similar to those when Luggy was at Swindon. http://www.pasoti.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?t=33942 http://www.pasoti.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?t=34007 http://www.pasoti.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?t=33974 Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 13:46:07 Hardly suprising really they've had a terrible 2009.
Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 18:37:21 They are crap though. Going down.
Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 19:14:05 I hope Plymouth go down.
They're mainly Liverpool/Manchester United fans at Home Park anyway. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Summerof69 on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 19:48:01 I don't know what they are complaining about. They are playing the same style that got them two promotions in a row, but they didn't complain then, did they ?
But now they think they deserve to challenge for a top flight place, when they should have a reality check. They are like us historically, been in the bottom two divisions, and the Championship should be their limit. Just because they take 50k to a play-off final doesn't make them a big club. In the late 80's/early 90's they struggled to get gates of 7k in the same divison they are now in. They remind me of Barnsley, where they had a few good seasons, and miraculously got into the Prem, like us. Now their average gates has more than doubled (in the 80's/90's average about 5k), and now they think they should always be challenging for the Prem, despite nearly being relegated to League 1 for the last 2 seasons. Barnsley and Plymuff fans should take a look at the number of way bigger clubs than them in League 1 this season, and be thankful. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 19:56:03 That's modern football though isnt it?
They should be rallying around the team and their manager. But theyve lost a few games all the fans think they know more about football than Alex Ferguson because theyve won the European Cup with Macclesfield on Championship Manager. But having said that, I do think Luggy's time has past. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Batch on Monday, August 31, 2009, 08:27:59 They remind me of Barnsley, ... think they should always be challenging for the Prem, They seem to have given up on that if the Tony Adams rumours are true. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2614597/Tony-is-top-of-Tykes-list.html Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: The Grim Reaper on Monday, August 31, 2009, 08:53:32 Well at least we get Luggy back when Wilson jumps ship for Barnsley!
Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, August 31, 2009, 08:55:49 Shudder (at the fallout from that potential scenario)
Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, August 31, 2009, 08:59:05 Well at least we get Luggy back when Wilson jumps ship for Barnsley! dont say things like that for Gods sake. We're only just getting over Sturrock leaving. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, August 31, 2009, 09:02:05 Wilson at 12/1 for the Barnsley job.
Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Ardiles on Monday, August 31, 2009, 09:15:52 Wilson would be a fool to go back. How is he going to top what he achieved there last time? Ans: he isn't.
He should probably have a word with Sturrock as well. Plymouth fans turning on their 'Messiah' less than 2 years after he led them out of the wilderness is a salutory tale. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: alanmayes on Monday, August 31, 2009, 09:42:23 It didn't take long for Plymouth fans to become restless with Sturrock, just over a year ago
there were rumblings of discontent.Things now seemed to have reached a tipping point. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: Rustle on Monday, August 31, 2009, 09:56:28 Despite barnsley some fans wanting wilson back,I dont think he will be interested as he seems to have a good relationship with our board, not only that i dont think he's ever left a club unless he's been pushed out,I think we have a loyal manager in wilson which is rare these day's.
As for luggy he's been found wanting in the championship with his style of play. Title: Re: The Knives Are Out for Luggy Thread Post by: reeves4england on Monday, August 31, 2009, 12:07:12 Luggy has never really cut it above League One has he? And let's face it, Plymouth have been punching well above their weight for quite a while now - perhaps living off the high that came from the ground redevelopment. Now parity is being restored, as evidenced by their crap bunch of players and dwindling attendances.

I'm not sure they'd take too kindly to it. Which in fact makes your suggestion more tempting. However, I can't be arsed to sign up to any muff forums |
