Title: door bell vs car horn
Post by: Bennett on Saturday, August 29, 2009, 07:58:16
why do people feel the need to toot their car horn when the fucking doorbell/intercom/buzzy thing is literally two meters away.

granted i don't drive so have never experienced the hell that can be-turning off the car, putting the handbrake on and then walking nearly endlessly to the door bell/intercom/buzzy thing. only to stand for a matter of seconds for the person you're presumably picking up to answer and say "i'll be down in a sec"- however i imagine it's pretty similar to walking just with a bit of car-y stuff that you would have to do at the end of the journey anyway.

also, if the person you're picking up knows you're going to be there and you live in this modern age perhaps acquiring a magical moveable talky device. either buy walky talky's or utilise your mobile phone. i'm sure they have them, nearly everyone does and it limits the annoyance you impose on others to a minimum.

to park in a tiny car park surrounded by flats and to toot your horn is not cool and it has really annoyed me this morning, i was in the zone for some big snooze points  :(

I don't think they were tooting for him NMH, hence him being woken up.

Your point is a very valid one though.

It may have been a taxi, time is money and half the time the fucker's are nowhere near ready to come out, considering you can miss a job by ringing the bell i dont blame them for beeping.

Car horn's are nothing for christ sake, next it will be dont make a noise while you walk by my house, this all comes across a bit snobbery to be honest.

A pisser?  I find it rather sinister in a serial killer obsessive-compulsive way.

I’d stay on the right side of that one Arriba or you’ll be down a 10ft hole being told to puts the lotion in the basket.

Did you know that mowing your lawn, or fixing/washing your car is illegal on a Sunday in Luxembourg? That my friends, is stone cold fact.

It's those hawkers and traders I can't be doing with. Nearly as bad as the vagabonds

My ex was a fucking nightmare when it came to cars and picking each other up.

If I was picking her up, I'd arrive on time, wait for a few minutes, no sign of her, blow my horn, wait for a few minutes, no sign of her, ring her mobile, no answer, wait for a few minutes, ring doorbell, wait a few minutes, knock on the door. Eventually she answers the door 15 minutes after I get there. When I complain she says its my fault and that I should have; blown my horn, rang her mobile, rang the doorbell etc. When I say I did she says it is still my fault.

If she was picking me up, if I wasn't waiting outside my front door when she turned up (early, on time or late), I'd get a bollocking for holding her up. If I pointed out she kept me waiting the other day, I'd get another bollocking.

Bitches. Can't live with them, can live without them - I'm now single and happy.

You can replace "My ex" with "All women", and it works just as well.

It is in Belgium too.

in switzerland too - the flats i lived in you weren't allowed to have your own washing machine becasue of noise, and the laundry room in the basement was locked up on a sunday with the power turned off at the breakers.  you could be fined for flushing the bog after 10pm any night too.  a few years ago they had a vote on banning driving on sunday too, which a surprising amount of people actually voted for, especially since going skiiing on the weekend is a fairly large part of their economy.  they are a very odd bunch.

This has given me an idea for work. Next time I have a parcel for someone, I will just sit in my van and beep the horn.

If they complain, I'll go on strike.

;)
